Gates makes OEM for subaru

I ended up going with the "OEM" tensioner, whoever makes it

I gotchya now. Was confused on the question u were askin. I know they don't make every part but there is a quality assurance by the manufacturer in order for a product to get a stamp. of Mitsubishi. Sorry about the dumb response I gave.

If you think about it this way I think you will have the answer to your question: the car manufacturer doesn't want their newly sold cars coming back for warranty work. So, they have incentive to at least build a car that will stay in one piece until the warranty expires - meaning using parts that will last that long. So, in general - but not always - buying OEM gets you a good part.

Aftermarket manufacturers produce parts to their own specifications - they may be better or worse than OEM but they are usually less expensive. That is why the quality question of aftermarket parts continues to appear in this forum - people are searching for good parts while trying to save money. The only way to learn the quality of an aftermarket part is the experiences of other people.

Personally, Why risk your head/valves over $50 or so bucks with the price between the OE and the aftermarket Hyd tesnsioner.

On every engine I have installed a belt, gets a OE hyd tenstioner.

I use mainly the OE belts also
