I think that the best setup for someone who is going to run, stock turbo, stock internals. hks 264 in / 272 ex, its the best setup..

The persons that can tell the best opinion are ppl running this setup! hehe
Expelling exhaust gasses is your basic goal in any turbo car. The higher the velocity, the more power made...

Geeze... 272/272 is just fine other than not being able to "hide" that you have cams (as if they don't have "HKS" stamped on them). 333whp and 317 ft lbs on a Mustang dyno... right after me, one of my customers got 342whp and 346 ft lbs with a JDM 9.8 hotside (slightly different from US version). Both cars idled fine with OE MAF pipes on the OE flash before the custom tunes... My car has never hiccuped or stalled. It is a little lopey, but sounds nice and has an understated meanness to it. THERE IS NO LOSS ANYWHERE IN THE POWER BAND TO OE CAMS! Just to clear that up. If you don't believe me, ask Buschur as he has stated that they are the way to go several times.

This is probably a dumb question, but why are people so obsessed with idle when they install cams? I though the whole purpose of cams is to make more power. If you try and make the idle like stock then you defeat the purpose because you will compromise on the power.

Zeus, has your car passed Texas State inspection with the 272’s?

Which cams have the best gain, but the least loss in driveability??? But most people will say blah has the best gains and to me it is driveable, but really take into consideration what is actually comfertable to drive.

Hi,

Regarding the idle issue, I drive my car to work 5 days a week, and drive my daughter to daycare. I certainly don't want the car to stall, hehe. Yeah, I want to make more power, but not if the car idles like crap while I'm in traffic...

Yes, as I stated any cam can idle well, especially with cam gears and/or a little tweaking (reflash etc.). With stock cam gears, the 264i cam does idle pretty well (although not perfect), whereas the 272 would probably lope too much for me. I may need to get cam gears anyway, for when I try to pass emissionss...

Take care,

I bought a set of 264s, but they won't be installed until next week. I'll probably post about them when they're in

I think MOST people running anything on this board have stock internals.

Is this on stock cam gears? If not how is the idle on stock cam gears.
