I'm legal ! (finally)

After a dreaded crackdown of the local COPS pulling me over like every other day (started after I put the 6" letters DYNOFLASH.com across the side of my car) I figured it was time to tone down the exhaust sound and also be ready in case they decided to crawl under my car

so I put in the Ultimate Racing bolt in 3" high flow cat tonight

What can I say - an AMAZING unit - very well made - bolted in perfectly and everything lined up 100%. This unit is a direct bolt in replacement for the stock unit

NO loss in power which I can feel (however I am currently running a very low boost on pump gas) - this cat is BIG and it seems to flow big

So far I did not smell that dreeaded stink smell I used to get when I pulled up to red lights. I did not drive that far yet, but after I drive a few more miles I will report back. Hopefully that smell is gone forever

Thanks Ultimate Racing for a great unit that fits good and isnt that costly

Haha.. At first I thought something completely different..

Welcome to the world of legal performance Al..

I don't think you'll lose much if any power with the cat.. much better off with it..

Did it tone down your exhaust note a bit? I know when I ran my car without the cat for a few days it was quite a bit louder than when I run with the cat.

The sound is much more subdued - these cops were breathing down my neck we got a new law in CT on Oct 1 which makes it illegal to add any muffler which ads more sound than original unit - - sure it would be hard to win the case in court but who needs $150.00 tickets ? With court fees and surcharge its over $250 a pop

Anyway - hopefully its quiet enough to get them off my ***

When you add the big cams, ported head, valves and bigger turbo things start to get very very loud and annoying

I like it - it just seems my local cops dont

I figure if I quiet it down for a few weeks they will find a new donut shop and maybe some real criminals to annoy

Yeah, I'm not too far behind with the cams, header and head work getting done shortly.. Those damn tickets.. we have a noise ordinance that I used to get nailed on periodically with my exhaust on my other car. I used to do the DB Meter thing and win because it was a threshold thing. I think it was a Babylon town ordinance in my case though.. Since I put my front plate bracket back on, nobody even looks twice at my car.. Its almost unsettling to go unnoticed. hehe..

Just got back from a nice blast up and down the highway

No loss in spool up - no effect on spool up - no effect on power

ONLY differnce is the smell is gone 100% and the car is significantly quieter

Just for reference, back when I was a bit slower ad run 12.6's at aroun 111 MPH....yeah, **** you, I know I can't drive....I pulled out my high flow 3 inch cat and hollowed it out. The difference, at the drag strip, was completely unnoticeable.

But leaded gas will clog them eventually....thats why i hollowed mine out.

I would like to know the performance comparison between a 2.5" DP and 3" DP using the HF cat. I have a feeling that boost/spool would be more immediate with the 2.5" DP system while upper end hp may suffer a little...

Hey Al, how much does it cost? and will it fit with the Bushchur turbo back? (I'd guess since its a "bolt-on" it wont, but maybe there is something I don't know)

Thanks

I'm going to put a cat in also...because its the ethical thing to do. Theres no need not to burn off the last bit of fuel and other byproducts before they exit your car. Especially when you can take it in and out very easy on race day.

Buschur has a 3in cat for his clamp system.
