HKS SSQ BOV Recirc Question

Im a new Evo9 MR owner and it came with a HKS SSQ BOV that vents to atm which sucks when I lift throttle when under positive pressure.

I want to buy the recirculation fitting but Im not sure on which size.

The car also came with a HKS RS intake which has a 1 1/4" Recirculation port (which I assume is the stock size?).

The HKS Recirc fitting comes in 3 sizes - 3/4" (19mm), 1" (25mm), 1 1/8" (29mm)
http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=798

I guess HKS doesnt make a fitting that matches the size on their own intake? Should I get the largest recirc fitting (29mm) because its the closest to the intake port or is there an adapter I can get to step the size down?

recirculation isn't going to help. ditch it and get the stock 9.

Recirculation isn't going to help his VTA problem? Could you explain your reasoning here? Unless I'm missing something critical, the 29mm recirc fitting should work just fine provided you're using rubber hose for your recirc. tube. That's only 1/16" to a side which should still cinch down fine.

Regardless, selling the SSQV for a stock IX BOV and recirc. tube should leave you with cash to spend on other things. Glad that the Evo is out of the hands of an obviously incompetent previous owner. Treat it well.

How could it not help? Its clearly a MAF/VTA issue, dumping air that the ECU is fueling for causes it to run rich for a second.

Thanks Raginghadron. Im going to try the recirc first and if it still sucks I will explore other options.

There's nothing inherent to the design of the SSQV its self that would prevent it from working "fine" with the Evo either, in case someone wanted to make that claim. I've had one on my Talon, VTA, in conjunction with an MAF in blow-through via DSMLink for years. The only annoying thing about it is that if you get in partial throttle boost after lifting slightly, the valve can cycle between open/closed.

ok, let me reiterate. I said it wouldn't help because instead of going through the trouble and $ of getting the recirculation parts it would be easier to just get a stock 9 bov. The recirculation isnt going to help with the bucking prob that will occure under low boost.

honestly i ran the hks ssq and although there good bovs, vta will cause driveability issues, mine was finnicky even with the recirc fitting, as long as the id of the hose is a bit bigger then the od on the recirc and intake pipe fittings, with two clamps itll hold down...and by the its called bov flutter under low boost. keep it put a recirc fitting on it youll be good.

you can use the stock upper pipe, to install the recird fitting you just gotta remove all the bolts around the middle diaphragm, then it slides off straight put the fitting facing forwards on the cover, reinstall then put back on hose install with the uicp to bov hose, new hose and your good to go.

Does anybody know where I can get 1.25" vacuum hose? All the vac line I can find online is no bigger than 5/8" and radiator hose is generally bent for car specific applications.
Home Depot / Lowes sell clear Vinyl hose but it kinks when you bend it. Rubber radiator hose would work but local auto places dont sell it cut to length like vac or fuel hose.

Ditch the HKS, I had one and bought the recirculation kit. It did not help with the poor drivability. Just put a 9 bov and you'll be good to go.
