What this guy says. Lope ftw. My tuner got the idle perfectly stable at idle, but it definitely has a nice lope.

 

I have an evo 9 and I just installed some kelford 280's a week ago with no tune I hardly hear much choppyness, so I can imagine after the it will be back to sleeper mode

 

This battle can go on for days... Just grab a set of S2s that make great power, bump the idle rpm up to 1100-1200 and advance your timing at idle and add some fuel... Should help smooth them out pretty well. You can always raise the idle to smooth a cam out

Im running HKS 264/272s on my 8 and my idle is perfect. Right under 1k and very mild. I also DD my car.

 

I had hks 264s and swapped for new hks 274/278, idle at 1000 and 8*timing and the idle is more smooth than the 264. Yes you can buy cams to make more power but these do idle well even with the AC on.

 

i have kelford 272's on my evo and they lope like a badass!
its the best sound ever.
but if you really dont want lope...my friend has GSC S1's on his evo 8 and they arent even noticable at all and give pretty decent gains...
