is it just me or does the trust bearing look to be in backwards? i cant really tell from the pics. i have seen this happen before on motors that have come out of some very reputable shops. idk why they did and they did not have an explanation for it either all we did was buy new ones and slap them in with zero problems. but make sure you check your trust clearances with a dial indicator as that may not be in spec. also form the pics it looks as there is very little to no assembly lube on anything? lube the **** out of everything when going back together. redline assembly lube has always work well for me.

when an engine is bindng up you should NEVER force it and NEVER start it. That causes a lot of damage that could be avoided and makes the cost a lot higher!

+1 on that!

Something is completely off!

You should be able to turn the motor easily...

Sometimes this happens when you are trying to save up some money and build it on the cheap. You get to pay more even from a new full build... I ve seen that happen numerous times...

I hope it's qn easy fix, but it doesn't sound like it...

Motor is ready to pull out now, I'll have it on the engine stand tomorrow night and take some pics as it comes apart.

this..looks like someone flipped the thrust washers(hard to tell though,so blurry)...the flat side should be against the block and the side with oiling indents should be against the crank...im betting the washers welded themselves to the crank and spun as a result...hopefully the block is still usable

I figured something was up, it took them months to ship it once paid for and took weeks of calling their shop to get a hold of the guy I needed to talk to about getting it shipped, either wouldn't return my calls or not answer the phone.

Here's the thrust bearings, couldn't tell the brand but there's "03" stamped on it in the last pic.

Post up some detailed pics of the block and crank. Arp race main bearings are one peice thrust and main bearing design, but you still have to see if the block is even salvageable or else thats just throwing away a set of new bearings and new crankshaft.

I'll be using ceramic coated ACL bearings and will have a machine shop check everything. I'll have them machine down the front balance shaft and delete those while I'm at it. More pics coming tonight.

Any update on this?

Just curious can the thrust bearings be changed with the engine and trans in the car and just oil pan/caps off? I'm used to V8's with one piece main/thrust bearings not these kind
