E85 fuel system questions

Im planing out my fuel system as we speak, but ive ran into a question i cant find the answer to.

I'm looking to run two Bosh 044 inline pumps along with a set of ID2k's. building a system for 700whp on E85. i'm just outside the limits of a single bosh....grrrrr

i had plans to use the OEM in-tank pump as a lift pump, thus it will not have to create much fuel pressure at all. but even with only 5-10psi required from it, will it flow enough??

Also, for the people hitting these higher numbers, are you using the 2000's or are the the ID 1650's enough?

twin walbro 255's and id 2000's or fic 2150's. 1650s wont be enough unless you have the fuel pressure way high.

i realllyyyyyyy dont want to use a walbro pump. Ive seen and had too many quality control issues with them in the past.

I'm not saying they dont move enough fuel, i've just had some serious issues with them sense they were bought out a few years back.

bump!

i found that RRE had some flow data on the stock evo8 pump, but i'm not sure if its the same as the evo9 unit nor did they flow it at low enough pressure.

I cant be the only one who wants to do this.

is there any proof of this?

I know one 044 wont be enough, but one weldon 1100-A will be. im just trying to find stock pump flow data that starts at 0 or 10 psi.

Im on the same track, you want to use the stock pump to fill the surge tank. Looking at the flow #'s it "should" work fine, at low pressure its not much different than a 255. I dont know the consumption rate of e85 at 700 whp though so its just a guess. I dont think many of these people understand how it works. It doesnt take much of a pump to free flow fill a surge tank.

exactly!

I was gonna use a 5 or 10 psi "pop off" in the line from the OE pump to my weldon unit with its own return line to the tank so that i can keep a constant inlet pressure. sort of like a surge tank, just with out the tank.....

I just dont know if the OE pump will keep up

I know that wont work well, thats basically a series setup and the weldon will choke to death sucking out of an oem pump.

not necessarily true. you can use little 190's to feed 044's up to there limit as the 190 only needs to make ~10psi thus its flow rate gets pretty high.

I figure if the IX pump flows the same(or maybe is the same) as the 8 pump, which flows ~200LPH at 43psi, then its flow rate at 10psi should be enough.

Id just rather not assume, and was hoping to find the data on here.

a buddy of mine built the same setup for his 240 and he had to run a surge tank to keep the weldon from running out of fuel. he has a walbro 255 feeding the surge tank and then into the weldon with -8 or -10 lines i cant remember.my evo makes over 700whp just with a bushur double pumper and id2000 with a ams fuel rail everything else is stock

If you dont want to make a surge tank just make a suction tube to the stock pickup location and let the 044 suck the fuel out of the tank. The other option is to sump the tank.
