Overboosting after FP Black installed

So today me and my friend installed the FP black to my VIII, everything goes pretty smith until we fired up the car, noticing that the car is overboosting, almost like there's no stop. So, I turn the boost down all the way to kind of work my way back up, however, it's still overboosting. when the cars running the WG is open. no matter how much pressure is applied to the crank arm. its like the flapper isnt sealing or something. . Do you guys have any ideas why this would be happening even when the boost is turned down all the way and why my WG is opened all the time? I preloaded my VIII stock WG by the way.

Thanks guys!!

You probably have the boost lines hooked up incorrectly. IF the wastegate is open, it would be hard to boost. What form of boost control are you using?

Im using hallman Pro, I check all the line 3 times and they're hooked up correctly. side port goes to WG and bottom port goes to the nipple right?

Am I reading you correctly? Are you running the VIII actuator on your Black turbo?

Wrong actuator. VIII actuator on a IX turbo is not allowing the WG flapper valve to seat properly. Get a IX actuator such as the FP HD 18# unit or their 25 pounder but specify for a IX, not an VIII turbo. You could even run a stock IX actuator

VIII and IX actuators are not interchangeable.

The VIII and IX actuators have basically the same canister. However the actuator rods each have different angulation, lengths and different bends. I don't have them in front of me right now so I can't recall if the mounting brackets and the turnbuckles are the same or different as well.

The IX turbo has a significantly larger diameter compressor housing than the VIII turbo does. The two holes for the WGA mounting bracket located on the compressor housing sit out further in relation to the location of the flapper valve's pivot arm. There is a difference in distance, angulation and specific location.

So I got my forge WG Actuator yesterday and installed it last night, car ain't overboosting anymore but.... the damn flapper still doesn't closed all the way. The car runs like top, boost hits hard and everything. I just can't figured out why the heck the flapper doesnt sealed all the way. I really hoping its not my turbo. any idea? be alright if I drive my car around like that?

When you buy a FP Black from FP (or from one of their dealers) with their wastegate installed from the factory, all of the fine tuning, minor mods, and adjustments have already been done. When you put someone else's actuator on, you must do those yourself, and need to know how to do that.

If you don't know how to do it, your first option is to call FP. They're very helpful. I tried to put a FP WGA on my Black, but it just didn't fit, no matter what I did. I just boxed up the turbo and the actuator, and sent it back to FP, where they didn't call me names or suggest I was dumb, cheerfully did the necessary fitting up of the WGA and installed it on the Black, and sent it right back. While the FP turbos are precision built, they do need fitment of the WGA.

If you're going to try to do the fitment on the Forge yourself, you will need to take a careful look at the setup and decide what massaging is necessary to the WGA to make it fit properly. Then, you can set the preload to your preference and you're good to go.

I would not drive it too much with the system not operating properly. It's no fun, and could cause you problems with your car or your warranty...
