Buschur Mass Air pipe and Air filter

Well I just bought an MBC and Boost guage from Buschur to go along with my HKS DP and HKS exhaust and mail in Dynoflash. I asked what the next item I should get and he suggested the Mass air pipr and air filter kit...I thought Intakes were a no-no?

What should be the next logical step? I am not trying to make crazy horsepower, just somewhere around the 300 whp mark...Also, I have to use 91 **** gas...

Any ideas and suggestions would be great.

I have a lot of Buschurs parts and I say go for the MAF pipe and the filter. You will notice a difference. The only problem though is that I am experiencing stalling with the new MAF pipe and eratic idling. Other than that the HP gains are sweet.

Tym or Jarod, if you guys read this. How can I correct the stalling? Using the S-AFC?

Sounds like there is a leak somewhere in your IC piping or something with the BOV. Are you venting to atmosphere?

Or you can try putting your stock intake back in and seeing if the problem goes away. Maybe you missed something when you installed the intake or one of the couplings are defective and leaking. Maybe the recirc tube if you recirc the BOV is leaking.

Funny you ask if I'm veting, I am. I have the HKS BOV for the time being. I have to find a hose
that goes to the 1G BOV on Buschurs UICP. The stock recirc BOV hose will not work.

Justin 1933, don't let this discourage you in any way. I still say go with the MAF Pipe and filter.

venting will definately cause buckling between shifts because of a too rich of a mixture. and if the bov leaks at all during idle, then you'll have idle issues as well. but intake and filter is a good mod. I'd do it just for the new sounds u will hear, the BOV will be much more audible, same with the spool, you'll hear that thing hiss like you've never heard before. oh and of course you'll get a lil performance outta it too!!!

I have the same BOV and was planning on returning it back to stock. I can't stand the noise of the BOV...

the stock one will sound loud with an aftermarket filter on there. Won't whistle like the HKS, but will just make a loud PSSH. and you'll hear your turbo spool so much louder, it's an awesome sound!

I was hoping to get rid of the pshhh sound...Is this a useless mod or would money be spent better elsewhere?

We have a special return hose that goes between the 1g bov on our upper i/c pipe and our MAS pipe. If you did NOT get this hose with those two parts then call us and we will ship one out.

You cannot vent the BOV to atmosphere and have the car idle correctly. Once you install the AEM and convert to speed density it is no problem though.

David,

I haven't purchased the MAS airpipe/Intake yet...I am just trying to get rid of the loud sound my HKS BOV makes (it does vent to atmosphere)...I thought returning it to stock was my best bet.

I have just purchased from you a MBC and Boost guage to go with my HKS Turbo Back exhaust (stock Cat). What would you recomend next...

Thanks for your time..

Justin

Justin,

I'd probably put the downpipe on the car, we have one that will bolt in to the stock cat and the HKS catback.
Next I would suggest the AFC or go with Al's Dynoflash.

David,

I forgot to mention that I have the HKS DP. Also, I am sending Al my ECU to get Dynoflashed on the 15th.

With that said, what would you recommend. I value your opinions and appreciate the help!

Thanks and have a good New Year.

Justin

If you are getting Dynoflashed, Al will need to know whether you have the stock airbox or somebodys cone filter.
You will get a different map depending on intake.
