Dyno'd today.
Hey everyone just want to discuss my expierence on the dyno today!! It was an awful day for me
! First off here is my mod list that is equivalent to the Buschur Racing stage one or two (i forget): 3" Turbo-back w/ test pipe, mass air pipe with filter, upper innercooler piping, Buschur MBC, Apexi SAFC-II. From what i have heard I should get a pretty extensive gain in horsepower from these few small mods.... Come to find out that is not the facts. The dyno that was used was a dyno pak AWD dyno. The numbers were 255 hp and 260 torque. This is an SAE corrected number.
The thing that also pissed me off was that i only got 1 pull on the dyno because of hitting fuel cut three other times b/c the MBC that I got from Buschur was backwards. (Turn to left to turn boost down and to the right to turn it up.)
Anyhow, when i finally got the boost turned to a number that I wouldn't hit fuel cut it was only set at 18 psi and tapered to 17. At the end of this run my car backfired very loud and a big cloud of black smoke came from the filter at the end of the mass air pipe so I immediately pulled my car off of the dyno w/o getting the chance to put my car on 20 psi and seen what numbers that would pull.
All and all I'm very unhappy with these numbers considering the amount of money I have spent on Buschur's product to get there ADVERTISED 340 WHP. I just found out today that it was done on a 2wd dyno, and I think that is kind of a sort of false advertising. They made there dyno graph with there product installed somewhat candy coated and better than what you really get....
Just figure I'd let everyone know what to look forward to when they make it to the Stage 2 Buschur package without candy coating it. Thanks for listening!! Good luck in tuning yours!!

Re: Dyno'd today.
That sucks ***, I made 239.9 HP and 248.2 TQ at Knowledge when I was 100% stock. You should be around 280ish like JOJO he has the Buschur stage 3 and he made 280WHP last time he was at the dyno from what I have heard. You have the right parts just a ****ty tune from the sound of it. Also take off the BOV and put the stock intake on and I bet you gain HP. I will dyno my car in a few weeks and I am looking for about 340-350whp with the cams.

Yeah, Buschur's advertised horsepower was probably done on a different dyno. What I plan to do is get a baseline dyno run, get my mods put on, then dyno again and see the improvement. I will just make sure to do it on thesame dyno to have more consistency, with the knowledge that different dynos have their variances.
Still he should have at least 280 because all of those mods are worth more then 15whp right?

Buschur does NOT candy coat ANYTHING! They dyno tune without intercooler sprayer and without a fan and ALL numbers are SAE corrected. I have yet to meet a more decent, honest and direct man as David Buchur. It pains me to see you running off half cocked and lambasting Buschur parts in this manner. I know you are frustrated but sometimes the small details are over looked and we wind up pointing our finger in the wrong direction - this seems to be one of those cases
I would love to see your a/f curve and dyno sheet
Have you considred a possible mechanical issue or instalation error? Also - do you understand that with less boost than specified you will make less whp?
Are you sure the SAFC is wired and set properly and the boost controller is properly hooked up>?
Have you considered that you may have had a bad load of gas ?
Have you considered that your dyno operator may have made mistakes in adjusting the settings on the dyno?
I would like to offer you a free inspection of your car to see if everything is working to see if we can get to the bottom of your issues - I will be down that way later this month
Finally - Buschur Racing is prob the tops in this business in customer support and they always answer the phone - - call Dave Buschur who is prob the best 4g63 tuner in the world tomorrow at 440-839-1900 and I am sure he will help you find your problem - - which I will wagerr you a nice dinner has nothing to do with the Buschur Parts

Yes! I agree. I am not downing their products by any means just stating the facts in my case. There are many others out there perfectly happy!!
Al thanks for the offer. I would love to take you up on that. I wish I had a scanner to post my air fuel curve and I would. I know that they told me that it was WAYYYYYYY to rich. It was like 11.5-11.8 a/f ratio on the top end. Don't know what the prob is but i doubt tuning the AFC will pick up the slack of 45 hp between the difference of my hp number and what you said it should make....

Where did you dyno your car at?

Did you do a base run before you started adding on parts? If your car was an unusually weak Evo, your gains might not be too far out of whack.
As I was told, hitting the fuel cut will invoke the ecu to retard timing, correct? And it takes a few miles of driving, or a reset of the ecu to knock it back to the normal settings....
