Hmmm. Didn't know that. It hit fuel cut 3 times, then backfired, and then wouldn't crank back up right away. After waiting 30 minutes I tried to crank it again and it finally turned over. Guess it got drowned by all the fuel the AFC was trying to add....

Please FAX it to me at 203-328-3033 - I am in Houston now but will call you tomorrow PM when I get back to my shop

In the meantime - call Dave Buschur, Tym or Jarrod tomrrow at Buschur - 440-839-1900 - - they will stand behind their products and help you find the issue - that I am 100% sure of and they know more about evos than anyone

what are your safc settings. You shouldn't even be hitting fuel cut, and a mbc is ALWAYS turn right to turn boost up. Its a bolt pressing on a spring, and I highly doubt anyone makes one that it counter threaded. sheesh...

I'm very interested to see the actual SAFC settings as well. Therein lies the problem, almost certainly.

Eric, if you don't think that the SAFC could be solely the problem with the car, then you really need to learn more about what that device does.

Were you using the SAFC settings Buschur recommends for the Evo's? Having tuned my DSM with an SAFC for years, I know how picky it can be and how the settings would need to change through the course of the year. To have a single list of airflow corrections for every Evo would seem to require a rather conservative tune.

It's not Buschur's problem b/c their parts do make power. I have their parts on my car and they definately make lots of power. Post up your dyno sheets and a/f chart so we can see them. It sounds like the a/f is off and you might be pulling timing and robbing hp. Like everybody else said post up your afc setting as well.

Unless Knowledge replaced there o2 in the past few months your A/F ratio is going to be WAY off just like mine was when I dynoed it there.

Did anyone else cringe after reading this?

I'm sorry, but if you can't even hook up a simple MBC correctly, the problems have nothing to do with the parts.

Get someone who knows what the hell they are doing to work on your car. Take Al up on his generous offer.

Actually, the majority of ball and spring type MBC's are just like you said, but the TruboXS HPBC are reverse threaded on the ball and spring portion of the boost controler. They do this because they have a combination of ball and spring for course adjustment and a bleeder valve for the fine tune. All bleeder valve style MBC's turn clockwise to lower boost and they didn't want to confuse people by having the course adjust and fine adjust turn opposite directions so they used a reverse threaded screw on the ball and spring part. Personally, I HATE bleeder valves(way to much bost drop at high RPM compared to ball and spring), and don't use the "fine" adjust on my HPBC at all...I will be swithing to a genuine Halman pretty soon.

LMAO @ Ronnie. Hey guys. Why all the flaming. Just posted this to see what you guys think and to see if you could help me out. No need to flame. The directions on the MBC I had read opposite of what they really were. Sorry again!! But I am no way putting down Buschur product. I know they are highly respected and know their stuff. Just stating the facts when it came to my application. I don't have a scanner so I will not be able to post the sheets. Maybe Al will post them for me as soon as I get them faxed over to him...
