HELP, loud clunking at weird times from front..axle?
i just brought the car out from winter storage and now i have a pretty vicious clunking coming from the front passenger side. i can pretty much feel gremlins banging under the front passenger floor. funny thing is.. it doesnt do it when accelerating, turning, braking, or decelerating. it happens when after i put it in neutral and begin to roll. at any speed. it gets worse and as speed lowers to 0 mph. tried to replicate while in the air but could not, probably has something to do with needing load. my biggest hunch would be the axle.. but how?! the car sat all winter and now all the sudden began to happen? definitely not the dp hitting anything. thank you in advance.
There's a torrent of threads on here about suspension noises. Once in awhile the owner after wrenching and replacing parts, has success removing a clunk or a pop.
My car has made strange noises both front and back since the day it left the showroom. I check every time I have the car up but I've never found anything remotely wrong with the suspension.
I was at a road rally two years ago and as the cars went by I think their suspensions made more noises than the engines. Anyway, lots of suspension noise. Mitsubishi tried to give us a car with a little of that rally car experience built in, but at an affordable price. I mean it doesn't hurt to check, there really could be something wrong. On the other hand, the rally car experience maybe wasn't intended to include a perfectly quiet suspension.
