Help with engine rod bearing clearance

I pulled my oil pan today to do a balance shaft removal and timing belt job when I was in there I decided to check my rods. And they all have a tiny amount of play. Like less than the amount a turbo has. The engine has 40k well maintained. My friends tell me my bearings are shot. I pulled one out and heres a pic. This doesn't look ruined to me but someone chime in and let me know if this is all good. Although during the tear down I found the balance shaft to be out of time. By about 50degrees. Not sure how that happened. Help me out!

they dont look too bad but kinda tough to tell from the pic, rub your finger nail through there and feel for grooves, and look for any type of dark marks on it which would determine if the bearing has been starting to heat up which could turn into a spun bearing, or worse. its kinda hard to tell a bearing clearance with the rod still in the engine, however if you have one of pastigauges, what you can do is put that on the inside of the bearing on to the crank, torque the rod bolts to spec, then loosen them usingthe gauge with the pasti gauge, you can determine if the bearing clearance is still in spec. Good luck

Don't listen to your 'friends" or find new ones that are motor heads. Couple of things, use the plastigauge you have found, I dont know the clearences of my head--but thats the "right" way to determine if a bearing in bad-- outside low oil pressure and a banging noise or a hole in the block---those are the other 3 ways to tell if your bearings are bad.. If there was no other reason to look at bearings other then you could--put it back to gether and leave it alone, your fine.

Is that heat build up on your rod or oil?

Now looking at bigger pics and not cell phone pics, the bearings look okay buddy! Glad you got the carback together, now just figure out if the prosport oil pressure gauge is working correctly!

Bearing deff looks fine.....and FYI the front balance shaft is only lined up with the crank every 3 revolutions so it prob was aligned up but you were on one of the 2 of the 3 times. Once you did or do the timing belt tension you should rotate the motor a few times anyway and youll see what I mean.

and yeah don't trust friends, always ask on here first, even tho theres some people that will tell you false info since there uneducated someone will tell you something right haha

what is that "polished" area on the lower side of the bearing in your pic?
Is that ok?
