Exedy Twin too much for DD?
I DD mine its harder than stock but livable. But it is very grabby ..... i didn’t really notice how hard it is until i drove my old civic that clutch is like butter

I have a carbonetics triple in mine and DD and its been fine. I think the Exedy twin would be cake. If I'm sucessfull in convincing my wife to get a Evo then this will be the clutch I put in it for her.
you pmed me about this and i explained it all to you IF you dd or even race a exedy twin will handle it. Now it all depends on how much tq your making not HP. For what the majority of DD evo sit around powerwise the exedy twin will be perfect and for you fknfstevo you will be perfect with this clutch dont forget you can rebuild it or upgrade it to a triple if needed in the future. I would talk to STRICTLY MODIFIED as they rebuilt mine and offer good prices and perfect customer service
+1... I agree as I too have a twin in my now mostly DD VIII. Like RockmanX stated it is an awesome clutch and will handle whatever you throw at it in the realm of 91, 93 or E85. I can personally vouch for roughly 535HP and 4XXTQ on a dynojet with a twin. Now for the guys with the 2.3-2.4 liter built motors making over 600HP and 500+TQ I can't confirm or deny, but for dyno days, some autoX and DD I love it. There is a lil chatter when it's not engaged but it's to be expected with a twin disk. That said though, please also note that I DON'T DO ANY 5500 rpm launches at the Drag Strip so I can't speak to that point for this particular clutch. Jus my 2c.

But just FYI there has been TONS of people with "dragging issues" with exedy's. My triple did it with less than 6k on it hence why I bought another one. Not sure if it's the same with the twins but I'm pretty sure it is and I don't see why it wouldnt be anyway since its the same thing minus one friction disc basically. From hours of researching what happens is the intermediate plates warp from heat and what not and when you push in the clutch the plates try to seperate and let the discs spin while the plates stay still, but when the plates warp (or w/e the hell happens) it doesnt let the discs spin freely so it "drags" and spins the plates which makes it extremely hard to put in gear and be very notchy when shifting while moving and would eventually kill the synchros in the trans. I had made many threads and read manyyyy threads about this problem and its very common so just letting ya know. But if its just daily driving you will be fine for sure, its only when you slip the clutch bad (like shifting and it slips enough at high rpm to create tons of heat) but dont let this not make you want to get the clutch, just letting ya know from first hand experience what happened to me and tons others on here.
I bought an evo that already had the exedy twin two weeks ago. The car was difficult to drive the first day and the mechanic at the inspection station stalled it about 5 times pulling it into the garage after saying "How hard can it be, it's not like it's an subaru". Not sure what he meant by that. Two weeks later, I'm driving 45 minutes to work in bumper to bumper traffic in DC not even thinking about the clutch. I can drive it very smoothly now. I recommend it.
Mine was on when I bought the car. The pedal is a little stiff but the extra effort is worth it. I have put about 20k miles on it at 330whp since I bought it and I have not had a problem. It engages and shifts smoothly. I DD it everyday, have made about 2 dozen drag passes and would reccomend it.

If you are using an Exedy twin disk clutch, please note some have a problem of sticking at idle when the clutch is depressed which will cause the trans to feel terribly notchy when shifting into gear from a stop. This is happening due to insufficient floater plate to basket clearance. The floater is cast and the basket is not. The difference in materials cause the assembly to stick when the vehicle warms up as the parts are expanding at different rates, so the floater will not let go of the disk and cause a low RPM clutch drag issue. To prevent this problem we recommend the following before installing our trans when using the Exedy twin disk:
1)Disassemble the clutch assembly.
2)Polish the area on the basket that makes contact with the floater (the arms).
3)Polish each side of the arms around the basket thoroughly.
This will prevent the floater from sticking by adding more clearance and a nice polished smooth surface for the floater to make contact with. When done correctly, your new trans will shift perfectly at low RPM!"
I've my HD twin for 12k miles, about 1k worth at the power level in my sig, 11k or so at 330/340. After the 1st trip to the track it is now slipping. I'll be putting an ACT 6 puck in as a replacement. Not sure what the life expectancy is on these things for a car that is daily driven, but I am not happy with it, many of my friends easily get 25-35k out of an ACT HDG6 with MUCH higher power levels then I am at, launches, track time, the works without issue.
