Stock pressure plate aftermarket disk?
Stock pressure plate aftermarket disk?
Hey is it possible to have an aftermarket disk, with the stock evo 9 pressure plate.
My clutch is slipping like crazy, so I need a cheap alternative.

not sarcastic at all. will add about 80-100tq holding capacity. and it will drive nicer than mating 6 pucs to aggressive pressure plates. and with cerametallic friction disc you dont need to surface the PP or fly. its very hard on surfaces so making it smooth to start is pointless. it grabs harder when surfaces arent straight.
Hmm... I like the way this sounds. I'm kind of in the same situation, but I'm already running an ACT HD pressure plate, not sure of the disc though. I was looking into getting their sprung 6 puck kit. I wonder just how long this would last? I was told that you can and can't resurface a pressure plate.

so i started this morning and ran into a few issues with removing the tranny, could not get the throw out bearing to pop off from the pressure plate, got a major headache and left. goin to the shop first thing sunday morning to continue. should finish then. This ACT street disc better work with the factory pressure plate....
I finished changing my clutch out last week, and it was quite the PITA but I succeeded. Getting the TOB loose from the pressure plate wasn't easy at first, but make sure that you use a big flathead. If you thought removing the tranny was hard, just wait until you re-install it.
well after another few hrs of prying at the TOB it finally gave in. getting the tranny out was hell. taking a lunch break and going back to finish...i woulda rather have paid a mechanic to do it

The only way I'll do a clutch on an Evo anymore involves dropping the subframe. It sounds like a lot more work, but really it's freakin easy. Sure you should have your alignment checked afterward, but you really "should" do that anyway. Four more bolts, couple of hoses and you have all the room you need for an easy stab. Many people who *****ed about their shifting after a clutch install mistook the issue to be the clutch it's self. It was not the clutch, but the fact that the clutch disc was warped upon install due to people wrestling around the tranny, torquing the disc.
i agree it woulda been a lot easyer but didnt do it that way. so what happened, i removed the pressure plate and turns out ima need a new pressure plate either way, factory or aftermarket. i didnt want to install a new disc on a semi burnt flywheel and pressure plate, i think if i did id end up doing it all over agian a few months down the road. better to get new pressure plate and take my stock flywheel to a local machinest to sand it down a bit. im not gonna get a factory pressure plate, might as well get the ACT HD while i got it all taken apart...so experiment was not a failure, but not successful either. and i have no car for the following week, looks like ill be bumming rides to work
