Clutch on it's last limb? Bucks in 4th gear

I've never had a clutch fail on me so this is all new to me. Hoping I could get some help.

On my way to work, I had to pass some idiots and had no choice but to get on it.

Few minutes later, cruising I put the car in 4th and it starts bucking like when your driving and let off the throttle for a quick sec. Or like running out of fuel.

1st, 2nd and 3rd gear cruising were fine, not sure about 5th or 6th yet.

Thanks

So does it drive ok in 1-3 but not 4?

I had a bucking issue once, it turned out to be the maf sensor was going out.

Yes. As soon as I shift into 4th, it bucks and hesitates while my foot is on the throttle.

1st-3rd are good.

A dying (slipping) clutch would be more like your RPM's shooting up higher than they should for the speed/gear you're at. It shouldn't effect the running of the engine. A good test is to floor it in your highest gear at about the lowest speed you can get it in (30ish in a 5spd, not sure about your 6, probably 35ish?) If the engine just chugs away, your clutch is holding. If your RPMs shoot up, it's slipping.

Yeah I know how a slipping clutch acts. Current setup I have, when it heats up the clutch slips, grabs right off the floor sometimes I have to shift slowly to prevent grinding.

I have clutch/pp problems that's why I'm getting a new clutch kit this week hopefully.

But am not sure what's going on right now, cause it seems to act up in 4th.

I think a warped clutch/flywheel could cause some bad shuddering from inconsistent grip, but that would happen in every gear, not just 4th. Is it happening at full throttle, partial throttle, all the way through 4th, just right after the shift?

Partial throttle, couple seconds after I shift to 4th and it stays. It will go smooth then return.

I was just wondering if it sounded like a drivetrain problem.

Might have to look into the spoolin up cop then.

I clean it every oil change, last a few weeks ago. But am looking for another maf.

Wouldn't I see funky readings on the wideband though?

BOV malfunctioning? You're not running VTA are you? I guess BOV issues would show up on your wideband too though. Does it do it when you shift out of boost?

Then I doubt it's the clutch.
