balance shaft question

im piecing together my new engine, but the stock one is still in the car so i have nothing to reference. im doing the ams style balance shaft but im not sure how it goes together. i imagine the oil pump is driven by the gear with the stub sticking out, and the race shaft bolts right to the other gear like this but what goes over the end? a sprocket? short bolt and plug? a search wasnt very helpful and i cant find decent pics.

Timing belt sprocket goes on the bottom one which is the oil pump.

I believe there's a brass castle plug that cover the end. I just finished doing this mod myself.

does the plug require a special tool to tighten it?

im about ready to install it, but i checked the bearing that it rides in and its ground by the overlap of the backing on the bearing surface side and the oil feed hole in the bearing does not line up with a oil feed in the block. i imagine the machine shop thought i was running a stubby shaft and installed all block off bearings and i need to replace it with a new bearing and line up the oil feed, right?

in the top pic, the overlap is around the 9 o'clock position and in the 3 o'clock position in the bottom pic.

The balance shaft provides the oil on that shaft. It doesnt matter where the holes are on there.

I am not one who would use a balance shaft of any sort but if the bearing is smooth that could be a manufacturing artifact and no issue. If it is rough I would replace it.
