Stalling???

Hello all, i've been adding some mods to my car and i am having a bit of a problem with my car stalling. I've added a 3"RMR tb exhaust, perrin cat del pipe, aem intake,GReedy type s BOV. Apexi S-afcII and boost controller is coming next. Ive noticed that im running way too rich - black around pipe - the whole nine yards. I am adding a Apexi S-afcII this week. Should this cure the problem of too much fuel or will the computer " learn " what the afc is doing and correct - have read this on other posts and was wondering if true. If so how do i get around this "learn thing"? Also i have a friend who is a evo cert mechanic at mitsu and i was wondering if when we install the S-afc if it was possible to get "sorta set up" with o2 sensors and the like till i get to a dyno? Thanks a bunch -

Is that a recirculating BOV or a vent to atmosphere? If its the latter exchange it for the former...

Any BOV the vent to atmosphere will cause some stalling when you let off and hold the clutch in after a decent pull. This can be helped witha AFR as in the HKS AFR or the Apexi SAFC. or you can vent it back in but you WILL lose the sound. Some BOVs can be helped in this situation by tightening them up a bit. But you will always run rich with a VTA until you get an AFR.

hope this helps

1st off.

NEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVERNEVER NEVER

EVER

Vent into the atmosphere on your car, never, ever, with the MAF system in place, you car HAS NO CLUE that you vent, and runs fuel based on that air you just vented.

2nd,

it is 100% your BOV, take it off, take it apart, you will see 2 springs, take out the smaller of the 2, put it back together, wala, better then stock.

DO NOT VENT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys thanks for the input - the bov that i have is the recirc type - and thanks for the info on the spring umiami80 - will try that this week - what i tried in the meantime was to reset the computer - and it seemed to work for the time being - hasent stalled or come close -but it still runs rich as hell - should have the apexi s-afcII this week.

i had the same problem until i learned (which prolly most of u knows that this is a basic manual driving technic) do not put your gear in neutral as long as the car is still moving/even rolling or you car will stall;worst case your engine will shut off (that used to happened to me a few times). Only when you come to a complete stop then you meay put it into neutral.

hope that helps.

one more thing about the apexi s-afcII, yes the afcII can solve the stalling problem but not with EVO. Get the HKS S-AFR instead, it has the bov correction.

Just my 0.2
