kelford 272 good for my setup?
Hey guys I'm new to this forum, and I jus picked up a evo 8 last week, what has been done to it has been a blowoff valve, exhaust, turbo timer, stage 2 clutch, and intake I think. I'm not wanting to do a lot w the motor, maybe jus cams and a bigger intercooler w a tune,I've done some research and I've found out the kelford 272 are prolly one of the better options for these cars,is this cam setup good for me or is there another option, seeings how I'm not making a hole lot of power? And if the kelford is good for my setup, will I have to but any other parts w it to make it run better,or do I jus install and get a tune? Thanks for the help guys
...or the GSC S2s if you do not want to buy upgraded springs and retainers. Again, it all depends on the intended use of the car. If budgeting is a concern, search the classified ads for a used set of cams. Good Luck!
You mean S1s? GSC recommends you to upgrade the valve springs with the S2s, Kelford also recommends it but I ran my car for 6 months on the Kelfords until I upgraded my springs.
YES if you get a set of kelfords you will be fine. I know plenty of people that run them without the upgraded springs and retainers. Just keep shifting at 7600 rpm, go more than that then you risk floating your valves. GSC and Kelfords are both good, they have good mid power and keeps the power band steady all the way to the top end. So go for kelfords 272 or GSC S2 do not get any smaller.

I know the old model GS2's were outperformed by Kelfords in the cam shootout a time back. I haven't seen an updated comparison between the two on the forums, so it almost seems like shooting in the dark between which brand you like the most.
FYI, there is a guy selling a used set of Kelfords for the low (350). Good luck on your decision.
