My Compression Test

Just did a compression test engine was cold (well its like 80 degrees out today but I didnt run it first i mean) did it with the gas to the floor and got 160 175 170 175. Would just like to know if thats good with the 160 in there. Ive been suffering from overflowing antifreeze out the overflow and everyone says head gasket so just curious on the numbers.
Thanks

This was without the engine warmed up tho. So you dont think the head gaskets bad with those numbers?

Do a leakdown test and that will tell you where your problem is.

This might sound weird, but bring it to any place that has a gas analyzer. They can see the hydrocarbons in the cooling system if they put the probe at the coolant cap opening.

Also they make testers for head gaskets at the auto parts stores now.

Good luck

Your supposed to test cold for compression but if your having problems then do a leak down test. But i don't see how you have a problem bc if you have a blown hg or have open valves it's going to read lower than 145 not higher. And the only way I can see it reading higher is if you had coolant in the cylinder but then you would be having white smoke out the exhaust, but I don't think every cylinder would be like that

It was cold. but no i have no white smoke just the coolant pushing into the overflow till it overflows did thermostat and cap. Doing leak down tomorrow.

leackdown test is a must when you have inconsistant numbers across the board, spcially when you are saying overflow tank is filling up
