So I am doing the 60k stuff on the evo. I got everything torn down. I am deciding on a waterpump. I know, I know, everyone says oem, oem. But seriously, what makes the oem so special to be $230 for the IX pump??

I ran a few gmb pumps on the 1g without issues. I know I have read on here of guys using the gmb pumps for the evos. I have seen a link posted for the gmb pump for like $100 plus shipping. I looked on rock auto and they have a gmb pump for like $40. lol Whats the difference in those two, if any?

And yes, I have read you can use the 8 pump on the 9 block. So I will go with an 8 pump since they are cheaper, oem or not.

 

The 8 pump will not have the titty to mount the alternator bracket, but do what you want. You didn't cheap out on your mods by your list, why cut corners on maintenance?
