De-activating AYC for Gymkhana pratice...

Hi Guys,
would hope to get some info's on temporary de-activating my Evo 5 AYC for Gymkhana pratice?

Will temporary deactivate the ayc will cause indirect damage to the ayc or center differential?

Lastly, which way will be the safe and convenient way to deactivate the acy on Evo 5?

Thanks

You could pull out the fuse for the AYC , but in doing that it would make the AYC diff open witch i dont think would be the best for drifting around

I think you're right, when the AYC goes limp or has the fuse pulled I was under the impression that it goes open because thats the safest way to drive it on the streets.

I bought my RS just so I wouldn't have to deal with AYC for gymkhana. LSD FTW

The reason i ask is because i saw some Evo owners damaged their AYC while practicing & participating Gymkhana lol...Some got their Center Differential damaged.

Well anytime you drift you are going to put undue stress on the diff/drivetrain. All part of racing...

Than will it be better to temporary deactivate the ayc system for gymkhana practicing or just leave it run...

if your ayc is regularly serviced it should be fine to leave it open. as other people have mentioned if you remove the fuse, it stops pumping fluid thus being an open diff...

leave it on, and get the fluids changed if you have not changed the AYC Fluid. how many kms has your e5 done?

AYC Fluid should be changed every 20,000kms for street driven, more if circuit.... I change mine on my e5 every 10,000kms as it does alot of highway work but also alot of hard driving.

It costs about $55- for me to get it changed by a mitsubishi dealer here in japan. oil is like blood, if it goes bad, expect ayc to go bad... if your blad goes bad you get sick...

Hi thanks for sharing...I quite religiously change my oils (Engine = every month or two even its on clock me 2,500km or less / Ayc, Center Diff & Transmission around 3 to 4 months once which usually clocks +/- 5000km)
Im not a rich man son.
Just got a bit phobia to bearings failure due to oil starvation caused by a slight blockage on the pickup pipe last time.

Ive a full rebuilt 10 months ago and have clocked me about 22,000km so far.
