new Quarter Master eight leg street twin is out
I just got off the phone with QM. Their new eight leg street twin is done and available (as of July 29). The differences from the race clutch are a more street friendly friction material and a heavier flywheel. MSRP is $2056 for both the 5-speed and 6-speed clutches. Only power spec I have ATM is that they said it would hold 500 ft-lbs no prob.

The biggest knock on these was the longevity (or lack thereof).....how long are these supposed to last for and what is the TQ rating?

I have been driving my 8 leg race to and from work the past few days in my track car, and have been really happy with it, believe it or not it is streetable. Looking forward to some reviews on the intended street version, I might put one in my street car.

The new QM street twin should be very similar in overall design (but is not a carbon clutch). At any rate, the new design uses friction disks that float on a hub, and its an eight leg clutch (instead of the more typical six leg like the Exedy). According to QM, hub allows the assembly to float more freely making it more quiet and less likely to drag. Can't say anything about longevity.

The guy said 500 ft-lbs no prob. I suppose it can hold a bit more (need a QM rep or knowledgable reseller in here), but there aren't that many Evos out there making more than 500 ft-lbs, and for the ones that are, the race version would probably be more appropriate.
