I'll put money on the problem being the crappy plugs you put in there. Do a boost leak test and try and get your hands on a set of NGK plugs as well.

I would suggest you stick with NGK plugs either the BPR8ES or BPR8EIX and gap to .022"

Also if you have an Oreily's or Schucks they usually carry both plugs as well...

I wouldnt go below the .022. It should be fine at that. Order a couple sets of the NGK BPR8ES or the BPR7ES which is the step colder plug. For the Evo VIII head 98% of people are running those from what i believe. Ive always ran them with no problems. Its a good plug and really not that expensive. Should run you $10 for 4 of them. Maybe a little more with shipping. Any local shop that does work on these cars will most likely have them for sale. Just ask. They wouldnt be on display or anything.

^ Actually the 8's are the step colder plug not the 7's...

To the OP...If I was you I'd get my hands on some BR7ES...I recently switched from the BPR's and was always having break up and misfire issues...and getting rid of the protruding plugs made a big difference...

Right, higher number colder plug. If you're running e85 you can go to a smaller gap like .018 but .020 -.022 is the smallest I've heard to run with 93

Advanceauto also carriers 8ES's.

Interesting info on the plugs, I always thought the BPR was better than the BR. I'll have to try to swap as well.

I always had that assumption as well about the BPR's...prior to switching that was all that I ran...but now that I've switched I'll be sticking with the BR's.
