Evo Head Noise/Tick Help Plz

The other night car was idleing and i heard a loud ticking noise. ive always heard a noise but not this loud was told it was my injectors but i wasnt 100% on that. Now its very loud and i need some input. car was idleing funny very lean. car after 2 times being tuned the a/f was always at 16 witch to me wasnt normal, now its at 18-19 a/f runing like poop. had np with car or tune thats been in it for over a year car still pulled strong. im hoping its just the lifters needing an adjustment or replacing them. car has buschur stage 3 motor/head with 12k on em.

Kind of sounds like bad lifters.

Make sure its not a exhaust manifold leak, you should know that if you have that 91 fox stang, they always sound just like a rocker or lifter...I got one too

Did it happen out of nowhere or after a race or what? When was the last time oil was changed?

I had a bad ticking noise once I put my motor back together and when I put in bigger cams and was chasing all around for it, changed all the bearings and was about to pull the head again but realized its just a lifter (even brand new JAM lifters) and still did it. After searching for hours and hearing similiar noises on youtube and eliminating all the bad scenarios like rod bearing I left it and it's fine, mine used to only be heard at lower rpm's and with all windows up (loud exhaust tho) and it would disappear right around 3k rpm's so I'm saying it was only a lifter because I'm assuming around 3krpm is when the oil pressure is the greatest making the lifter pump up to the fullest and making it go away. I've been running amsoil ever since and I think its going away, prob just coincidence or I dont notice it as much since I never have the windows up as I did in the winter.

If theres no exhaust leak TAKE OFF your valve cover, my first ticking noise was because a rocker broke and the cam lobe was hitting on the exhaust valve every revolution. Cam bent the valve and had to pull the head and change the valve, I thought it was an exhaust leak and I drove it like that for a month but no major harm done. If it happened out of nowhere just pull your valve cover it takes 10 minutes and double check nothing broke.

Mine sounded like that for a few minutes, we got new gsc no tick lifters in it and got quiet. Then 600 miles later it made the noise again and got 10x louder then the car shut off . I had snapped a intake cam. So like the guy above said take off valve cover and double check everything. It may be nothing big.

I have heard a noise kind of like that in my car before, but then changed the oil and it went away.. Not sure if the dealership used something other than my normal Mobil 1 though.

That's no excuse, I dont even have a garage and I had my whole motor/trans/tc out and all apart.

If you feel you might mess something up then i can understand that

But since you said the afr's have changed and idles funny, etc....First thing I would do is a compression test and leakdown test...It would test all the valves/rings to make sure theyre sealing. I would be expected to throw in some lifters though
