Has anyone experienced any crank related problems? I heard that the 7 bolt is notorious for "crank walks," and that the 6 bolt is preferably better for mods compared to the 7 bolt.

Does anyone know if the VIIs from both Europe and Japan have 7 bolts? Or are they the lucky ones with the 6 bolts?

I heard that crank walk was a problem for early models of the 4g63 engine. I have not heard any problems with newer models. Not really sure sorry.

I have yet to hear of crankwalk on the 7 bolt on the Evo's (slightly different 7 bolt from the pre 99 4g63 motor. I have heard that most problems came from the 2g Eclipses (4g63 7 bolts) 94 or 95 - 99. 1g Eclipses had much less of a problem (pre 94). I was also told that the 99 year had a slightly better chance of not getting crankwalk. I had a 99GSX with 86,000 miles, 340 to 360 whp and a ACT2600 clutch with 6pucker street disk which was said to be one of the main reasons why the bearing went bad.... yet I had no problems. I have also know people with less than 250whp, factory clutch, half the milage, and still spun a rod.

I dont know if your worried about the rumors of crankwalk associated with the 7bolt 4g63 in the Eclipse..... if you are you may want to do a little more reading on the subject. I do believe the Evo version is different from the Eclipse version even though they have the same engine code.

If you want you can go on www.dsmtuners.com and there will be endless threads on the subject. Hope I was able to help a little.

Evo 4's had some crankwalk issues. Very few though.
