Pics of my ACT clutch, Fidanza flywheel and misc fluids.

Hey guys and gals, got all my stuff in from RRE today. Got a great deal from those guys on an ACT 2900lb pressure plate, upgraded heavy duty clutch disc, Fidanza lightweight aluminum flywheel, BG Synchro Shift and Redline Shockproof. All of these items shipped from Cali to Texas came out to $904 including the $75 discount I received for purchasing the flywheel at the same time as the clutch assembly. Thanks again RRE you are good people.

dont do hard launches with that clutch, 2900 is way too much for the tranny.

I trust ACT, and I'm fairly easy on the car, stock clutch lasted me 19,240 miles. Did the mods take down some of my pics?

With a street disc? Not really. You do have to slip the clutch out, though, rather than dropping it. But that goes for any clutch.

Congratulations on purchasing a great clutch! We've had nothing but success with the ACT in our Evo VIII.

Got the same set up. All installed already and I am very happy. RRE has them for a great price.

My clutch is starting to slip at 7700mi - no racing, no launches, just daily driving. Car is in service today for an oil change, so we'll see what they say... ACT sounds like the clutch to go with in my application, so I would love to hear your comments re feel vs stock once you get it installed.

Also, a bit OT, but I see RedLine oil being highly touted. The only info I have is from about 15 years ago when RedLine had a rather unsavoury reputation. I do not mean any disrespect to current RedLine brand and my old info maybe a bit faulty, hence my desire to learn. Thanks.

I had bad luck with Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the rear diff. It doesn't have enough friction modifier to allow the clutches to break free in low speed tight turns. I'm guessing Heavyweight should be the same way... so I hope that Heavyweight is for the transfer only.

You going to DIY the clutch install? I was thinking about doing mine soon. It still works, but it's pretty soft. I'm a little over 18.5k miles now. Sounds like we drive our cars about the same amount.

Just remember that a fluid that makes your transmission shift well will not always protect your gears and bearings sufficiently.

you can use Heavy Shockproof in the rear diff, but you need to add LSD additive. I use it with no problems, hell I use heavy shockproof in the t/case and tranny also. This fluid is just amazing in how it attaches itself to the metal parts.
