Evo 9 Front differential?

So im looking into buying an evo 9 (base model IX) but the the front dif is toast so I need to replace it. Well I've been looking all over the forums and online for information on what kind of differential the evo 9 has. In some places I've read it has a helical lsd from the factory and then others just say its not helical from the factory. I honestly have no idea what to believe. I dont want to drop a grand on an aftermarket LSD if I don't have to. So if the ix comes with a helical lsd stock where can i purchase that? If not, can someone clarify what the hell everyone is talking about lol thanks

Update: Got the car and Ive been searching the forums for this. Many people that blow the diff in the t case, do they just replace the diff or do they need to do a full rebuild on the t case and new differential? When the car was delivered the idiot that took it off the trailer put it in gear and it did drive.. so im confused if i can save some money that i was gonna use to do a t case rebuild and oem lsd or just go wavetrac lsd without the rebuild.

please help!

IX is definitely a helical limited slip in every iteration. I think AWD, sheptrans, whoever slavages transfer cases can provide you with a OEM unit.

Does this evo happen to be in FL and is silver?

Replace the LSD. Labor rate should be something like $300 (the tcase doesn't need to come out) and you can get a cheap LSD from somewhere. I know FOR SURE shep has an LSD....since I traded mine in for a discount on a wavetrac.

Funny enough that car was on sale for a LONG time. It was actually the reason why I officially joined evom (was stalking for years). I was pretty serious about buying his car but he didn't respond to my PM.

On a IX its a helical lsd from the factory. The front diff can go, but I'll put money on the T-case having some damage. The front diff is located in the T-case and you may as well get someone to check it and rebuild it too.

Yea it was for sure. I looked at it about a year ago and was like how is this not gone? but yea i was speaking with him for awhile before i actually got it lol..

I also spoke with shep and they did say that they has the factory LSD so i was gonna buy it from them.

Yea my fault I got the answer to the first part.. I was just wondering If its completely necessary to do the rebuild because the guy drove the car on the trailer so idk if that may have completely messed it up or if it means the other parts like the spider gears and ring and pinion are ok or not
