OS Giken Twin or Exedy Triple
OS Giken Twin or Exedy Triple
I'm in the market for a new clutch. I'm looking at the OS Giken R2CD and the Exedy Triple HD Cerametallic. It's a daily driver, my goal is 500tq, I DON'T plan on drag racing. It's a street car. Which clutch do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance
Honestly if you dont drag race then the twin HD is fine for you. I would say get the Exedy twin HD. If you decide on Exedy pm me for more info.
The twin hd is rated somewhere around 550-570wtq road racing. Ive ran a twin for over a year in the 500+ wtq range. if drag racing id say triple though.
OS giken is a nice unit as well.

personally id get the exedy twin hd if i were you. i actually just removed my twin setup and put a triple in, but only because i am going to be drag racing the car.
if you dont ever plan on launching the car or doing any harsh drag racing then a twin hd will last you a long time. i still show atleast 50% life left on my twin hd and thats from 2 yrs of usage and half of that around 550tq range.
if you really want the triple you can get it but dont get the hd cover and also be aware it will be more harsh on the drivetrain. if you absolutely dont need it theres no point in going to a stronger clutch.
it all depends on the usage of your car. if you get a exedy clutch do yourselfa favor and add an additional wave ring to the wedge collar assembly and purchase a clutch fork stop as well. the only reason i upgraded was because i had to pull the trans out to fix a wedge collar i exploded from a 2-3 shift drag racing.

I have the R2CD and DD. It grabs extremely hard but once you break it in and find your new engagement point it's very pleasant to drive. I can't tell the difference from stock and I drove that until 52K. Chatter noise is nearly non-existent but it is a double clutch, it sounds very balanced though not like some doubles I've heard which reminded me of nuts and bolts flying around in the bell housing. I chose this clutch because it's designed for road racing, push conversion style and overall research on the company. I have practiced a few launches on it and it's excellent, no more high rpm lockout I couldn't be happier with this clutch
For what it's worth, I was originally planning on going with an Exedy double with AMS push conversion but really wasn't sold on the price. While talking with Trevor from Sheps during my driveline rebuild he suggested the OS Gilken after explaining my use, 90%DD 10% track(road race) and a future 600HP. I have about 2000 miles on the new clutch.

the os gikon if i remember correctly is made from the same company that makes exedy stuff. so its def good.. just not required. both are great options though. theres other options as well like the 8 leg QM.
OS Giken
I guy once posted a video of an OS Giken triple, but I dont remember the exact model. His was making really nasty sounds, it sounded like nuts and bolts shaking in a bucket.

Qm
I often hear that the life of the Quartermaster is very short.
be glad you didnt do that push conversion on a exedy.. its extremely to harsh and busts drive train very easy.
