FP Red vs 750R

Any opinions on which is the ideal for Solo II and a DD? Lets not concern price in this, just a direct comparison. I'm looking at the 750R V-Band Kit from AMS. This will be on a 2.0, not a stroker.

Thanks,
Anthony

these two turbos are vastly different in lag. red has usable power at 4000rpm. the 750 starts closer to 5000 if not later.

you really dont give enough info about goal of car to even answer your question.

well depends on where you live you throw a turbo kit with tubular mani on your car here in cali, haha first time you get pulled over and hood popped bam state ref ticket, im jockin an fp red i like it good power band, not too laggy, but stealthy. But you have more top end potential with the ams 750r kit. So take the gamble, or play it safe like I did.

Sorry, guess I should have added more info. I'm just looking for low 400whp with something around 350 ft. lbs. or less. It's also my DD so it needs to be reliable. I've been doing a lot of reading and I'm leaning toward either an FP Red or Black now. I'm going to be on stock block/internals for a while doing some autocross and a little track.

I'm thinking:
FP Red or Black
BR TB w/ HFC
BR Race FMIC w/ upper & lower IC pipes
HKS 272's
880cc Injectors
Walbro 255
BR ported stock manifold
BR Mass Air Pipe & Filter
And tune of course

That should get me in the high 300's to low 400's I believe, but my concern is what kind of torque do you guys think this is going to make? Any input is greatly appreciated. This will all be pump gas, no race gas or any kind of injection.

Thanks,
Anthony

fp red probably be the better turbo or any companies that offer an equivalent to it. Not much lag over stock, i made 410 340 dynojet on 91 octane...so thatll get you around your goal with room to grow. Dont forget the matching tb to your intake mani you want. No bottlenecks = more power made easier.

good luck

with those goals an hks 7460 turbo would be best followed closely by hta green. you want to maximize response for your goals so choosing more turbo than you need is a bad idea.

Why? You're suggesting a turbo that can lay down 650+whp numbers? That makes no sense.

If you have to have one of the turbos you posted, than a red would be the best bet. But really, even an evo 9 turbo can get there if on e85. Or the hta green would be good as well.

That's the thing is the closest e85 station is 103 miles away. So with that in mind it will be on 91 octane as that's the highest we have here in Utah. So with that in mind what do you think?

Edit- At this elevation 91 is equivalent to 93 @ lower altitudes.

Where do you live? I'm in Utah as well and there's a bunch of e85 stations around.

there ya go so over compensate with a slightly larger turbo then needed so you can meet your goals on 91, but still will have room to grow on race gas e85 etc. good luck man hit that hp goal 400 hp is fun no doubt.

The closest one to me is in Clearfield, I'm in West Valley. It's right around 100 miles round trip. The only list I can find of E85 stations in Utah show-

Clearfield- JPs American Car Care 1350 East 700 S
Orem- Christensen oil company 524 north 1500 west
Provo- Sinclair 695 East 800 North
Provo- Christensen Oil Company 595 South 200 East
Spanish Fork- Christensen Oil 1873 North Main
Santaquin- Kars Chevron 1431 Summit Ridge Parkway

The online lists (At least for GA) aren't terribly accurate.
