I think I've read in a few places its the same as the galant 4.11 gear. Wasn't really sure myself. I'll try calling shep with it.

 

There's only so many ratios that work and will physically fit inside the housing. so yes, they're the same ratio, No, they're not necessarily the same part with a different label as you seem to be implying.

 

Just spoke to Trevor@shep about that OEM mitsu 4.11 gear. Apparently its been known to flex and gouge into the aluminum case. Probably on high HP cars but I'm still not taking the chance (don't know where my future goals will stop).

Back to searching for that HKS gear! I've sent TRE and Jack's an email to see if they have it. Would anyone else in the US have this gear in stock?

local here purchased an HKS 4.11 form shep earlier this year.
I installed the gears. the gears came in factory mistubishi boxes with the part numbers removed.

gear flex into case??? I build trannies here and that is most ludicrous statement on the block. hitler was right. if you want people to believe a lie make sure its a big one.

 

and any dweeb who thinks HKS is not capable of rebadging parts and selling them as their own need to take a look at the turbo line. nothing like charging double for garrett turbos

 

I'm with 94AWDcoupe, I don't believe the "HKS 4.111" final is anything but an off the shelf mitsi part.

Which is why i've got a VR4 gearbox waiting to be pulled apart when the time is right.

 

It comes from the EC5A Galant VR4.

MD749217 for the output shaft
MD770339 for the diff drive

 

That may be the case. But shep is the one building my trans. And I don't want him coming back and saying "you should've went with our recommended HKS gear instead of believing those forum jockeys" over a $200 difference in price.
