For these factors alone, I chose what you see listed in my signature block.

an fp red is a silly turbo now. the black spools almost the same and makes more power. Either hta green or black are the fp choices I would look at. You then need to decide on your power goals.

I have no idea how the map turbos compare but they are not BB and they are significantly less expensive.

EF3 for sure.....priced right......priced best.......it spools faster than my buddy's red and maintains the power climb all the way to 8400 engine rpms......and the dyno sheets prove it.....just make sure to go for the 23 psi WGA......it has an incredible sound also......if this thing spooled this fast, I am wondering what the EF4 would've done .....hmmmmmmm

The first factor makes the EF3 the clear choice.

The Black is noticeably slower spooling with the 67mm turbine, but it sure does make quite a bit more power.

With price being a factor, the Red definitely loses out.

I am sure the EF3 spools quicker, the compressor and housing are both smaller. The EF3 is rated for 550whp, the Red will make over 650whp. The two are a fair amount different in overall performance, Im sure the deciding factor will be price.

having both the red and black on the same set up there is a very noticeable difference in spool up. Real world maybe not in the dyno numbers. I would like to ride in a car with a green.

I do like pretty much everything MAP makes.

Gotta go with BB Red since that's what I'm planning next year. My buddy has an old school non BB Red and S2's on his IX. Makes 436whp at 25psi on pump and that car is just a blast in a street car prospective. I can't imagine a BB version on E-85 (which is what I'm planning next year).

Can the EF-3 make FP Red numbers? If it can come close it would be my choice. I think $2500 for a FP Red is insane. The EF-3 looks like a winner to me

That price tag for the FP Red was a deal killer in my opinion. And yes, the EF3 can achieve similar numbers as there are some pretty good looking EVOs built to the rim with great parts supporting the EF3.

I'd opt for the EF3, especially if spool and response are important to you. My buddy has one in his built IX with 2.3L and it spools just as quick as a stock turbo. I would say the power output is right inline with what a Red can do too. You have to remember, turbos can and will always make more power than what they're rated at, you're just exceeding the limits they were designed to reliably perform within.
