When is a bigger fuel rail needed?
I did a search but couldn't really find anything on this. I was wondering when is a Bigger fuel rail needed? Like the Buschur one. My mods are in my sig. I am running a burschur double pumper and 1200cc injectors. I am a little bit over 500 hp on 93oct and a little over 600 hp on Q16. If I did a bigger fuel rail would I also go with a fuel pressure regulator? Thank you all for your time and input on this
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe the bigger fuel rail will just allow you to run a set of injectors at their native fuel pressure, and yes it would make sense to have an aftermarket regulator then. I believe the stock fuel rail restricts the fuel pressure to a certain psi at the rail. Dave Buschur wrote a short article on this at some point I think. - Not 100% sure if it was Dave, but pretty confident.
On gasoline we ran out of fuel completely in the high 600 range on Matt's car. Swapped to another rail and the car was RICH as hell, I am talking the difference of 13.x:1 AFR's down into the low 10:1's. I think there is a thread on it somewhere.

The factory rail is only restrictive at the inlet. It can be drilled larger. While I have not seen a before and after on it I would be my last dollar once you drill the inlet out it will flow just as well as any after market rail. The inlet whole is very small. "what where they thinking small"
True 94awd, but.............we've had I believe three stock rails blow the ends off now and the fire hazard isn't worth keeping them around. They've actually come completely off where they are "bonded" at the ends.

Upgrade to a -6 feed line while you are in there. Best bet is Aeroquip pushloc, found here

And ditch the filter that the double pumper comes with (I don't like barbs/clamps on high pressure applications. There are clamps that I trust, but a pain to remove when you want to change the filter) and go with this filter

Stock return line/regulator is fine.
The stock feed line is good to over 700 whp even on E98 with our double pumper, don't change it. Too many hacked up EVO's as it is. The fuel filter we use is on 500+ EVO's, 10 micron SS filter. Never had a failure from one, never had a clamp or line failure from one.
The Summit filter is only 40 micron. If someone actually NEEDED to run -6 lines the same -10 micron filter we supply we can also supply with -6 inlets/outlets on it. Our double pumper is also available with -6 outlets for reference.

I saw a DRASTIC drop in IDC's when going from the stock feed line to -6. This is on E85 at ~700WHP, depending on the dyno of course. It's a simple uprade, and no hacking needed since you can leave the stock line in place if you wish.
I'm still currently using your filter and like you have had no issues, I'd just much prefer AN connections on something that sees ~80psi vs barbs and hose clamps. With that said, I'd trust 'gap free pinch clamps' from McMaster Carr, but they are not intended for something that is serviced on a 'regular' basis.
Thanks for letting me know that you have the DP filter with -6's on it. Is it available from Kinsler like that, or is it something you do in house?
so on an FP black with ID 1000cc injectors and expected power goals at CBRD to be 450-475 pump. what would one recommend on fueling upgrades?

U would probably be fine with Wally 255.... And 1000's or maybe just go a tad bigger to leave urself some head room..... Stock lines rail and reg all fine!!!
