need injector help/info
Let me start by saying that i DID use the search bar for hours but i couldn't come up with an answer. Im looking to purchase some new injectors for my car but im looking for some opinions on what brands make some nice injectors for the evo's or if anyone has had any problems with certain injectors. also im wondering what size injectors i would need for my car. im shooting for 400-450whp on 93 pump gas. some info would be appreciated
Go with a large injector so that you have room to grow in the future. Trust me you will always want more power and it sucks to buy miltiple sets of injectors (ask me how I know, hint hint). Currently I have FIC 1450's on pump 91 and a single 255 pump with 310 WHP so far and only at about 45% duty cycle. They are good for a lot of power even on E85 if you have a double pumper.
i have 338whp now on stock injectors and a single walbro 255 and 93 pump gas. what would be the positives and negatives of bigger or smaller size injectors, sorry for the n00b *** questions in advance everyone lol, i pretty much know nothing about aftermarket injectors

1. Here is a calculator to use http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/in...alculator.html , the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption for turbo's on 93 oct is roughly between 0.6-0.65. I saw one of DB's threads & he used 0.65 for our Evo's on 93 oct.
2. Reputable tuners/shops will give you the right answers you are searching for, use the guys on this forum that support us:
a. Razorlab,
b. Buschur Racing eg above aka DB,
c. CBRD,
d. AMS,
e. Mellon Tuning/Racing,
f. TSCOMPUSA,
e. Spec Op's,
f. AWD,
g. ER John Bradley, &
h. Milspec.
There are many good tuning shop's here (these guy's just come to mind) that always offer advice to everyday guy's like you & me on this forum.
3. A good indication of what works as an eg http://www.mellonracing.com/index.ph...d6051bf3e2e5e0 ,
4. Using your eg of 400 odd hp as a goal roughly translates to approximately 500 + hp at the engine. It's never correct/accurate unless it's done on an engine dyno, not that many around so, you can use these rough calculations to get you in the ball park:
a. whp + 10 / 0.84,
b. whp + 30% (general rule engine hp - 25% = whp)
For Example - A standard Evo IX in a test conducted by Motec in Australia on their engine dynomometer produced 226 kw/303.7 hp (on 93 oct equivalent), my Evo IX put down 162 kw/217.25 hp on a Dyno Dynamics (most IX's produced 155-159 on this dyno). This eg with my car shows a 28% loss of power through the drivetrain to the wheels. The above formula b. 217 whp + 39.5% = 303 hp @ engine. Only an Example.
5. Using the FIC calculator at 1. Desired hp ie 500hp requires the use of 1100cc injectors as an example.
You will always get opinions here from guys just trying to help but sometimes they can lead you in the wrong direction. Contact the guy's above that do this for a living mate.
Good luck.
