I want tall gears like in a 911 GTR. 40mph in first no problem. Can the EVO do the same?

Are the road speeds at these shift points calculated at 7500 RPM, Todd?

EDIT: Duh, it is too early for me yet! The RPM of the shift points is clearly stated in your post as 7000 RPM(I guess that I can't understand your "7K" shorthand)....Duh, Sparky!

Todd: I was under the impression that there were three available final drive ratios available for the non-USDM RS cars. I understood that there are short, medium, and long boxes available...and not only two as you have posted up for the RS boxes.

Is the serial number on the box visible from under the car? Can I just put it up on the lift to get a peek? Is it stamped on the box, or is there a plate, or tag, etc.?

According to the info that todd6027 has posted up the V RS boxes do not have a 1:1 fth gear. In the V RS box 5th is a 0.825 reduction.

According to the two options that todd6027 has posted, I would imagine that you'll probably want the V RS box with the 4.87 final drive. The other one with the taller final drive would place 4th and fifth at almost unusable speeds(too high) under most circumstances. Of course it depends on the highest road speed that you can reach on your particular uphill course.

yes there is afaik its a mix of rs gearing with gsr final drive also the 4.11 wasnt a factory option

best box for hillclimb would be the rs gearing with 4.875

other rs box

RS box other option .......(1) 45 (2) 64 (3) 86 (4) 114 (5) 151

According to the gear ratios posted up by todd, the RS box with the 4.875 final drive has a .825 overdrive 5th gear, which works out to a 4.02 overall in 5th. For Uphills on a 2L engine I would prefer a true 4.11 overall in 5th, maybe even a 4.24 if possible, especially if you'll be shifting it at 7500 instead of 7000. However, you can still factor in and tinker with top speed and the speeds in the intermediate gears by judiciously choosing the rolling diameter of your tires.
