If you don't get the part numbers you need on here, you may wish to ask over on Lancer Register. Or maybe call one of the two major Evo tranny specialty shops here in the U.S.(Shep, or TRE).

Hello,

Were you ever able to find the JDM 5th gears?

Attention:

There are 2 Different 5th Gear sets available!!! ( Both the 0.825 ratio )
These are not interchangeable: It depends on the Type of your Transmission....
The 5 Speed Trans up to Evo 7 had an different input shaft with an shorter Gear Spline for the 5th Gear. These have different Part Numbers.

So you have to figure out what Input shaft is in YOUR Trans....
Look for the Trans Number :
"W5M51-2-X5B" and number 1 to 4 ( then its an Evo 7 Trans ) Needed is MD771726 and 727 (as mentioned )
"W5M51-2-X5B" and then an letter A to G is Evo 8 and up Needed is MN107625 and MR980665

But ... you never know if the Trans was maybe revised before...so it could happen that an Evo 8 Input shaft was installed in an 7 Gearbox...... so check before ordering Parts...

Mine is an Evo6, that we have owned since new so I know the input and output shafts are original.

Do you know what would be the correct part numbers for my application?

Thanks!

Bumping this. after talking with Jon at TRE about the JDM 5th he said he has had a ton of trouble finding them nowadays.

I'm not sure what part numbers he's looking at but I'm guess it's the ones mentioned earlier in the thread, MN107625 and MR980665.

I Rosssport mentions those two as compatible for the 8 but mentions two other parts numbers, 2528A017 and 2528A016 for the 9. Does anyone have experience with this? What are the differences between the 8 and 9 here?

2528A017 and 2528A016 are for EVO 9. The ratio for the EVO 9 JDM and USDM are the same @ .761. You want the Evo 8-8MR JDM 5th gear for the .825 ratio.
