haven't had a friend with a BB Black yet, but i ran in a FP Black one and it was 24psi and it hit 477whp... and ran smoothly... I drove on a GT40R around 600whp DD but kinda laggy. HTA 35r was fun too but i wanna keep it Daily driver and fun...

Does the Ef turbos need to be oiled from the filter housing too?

I am in the same boat mate.
When map released there turbo's they looked the best (over the non BB fp Black) But now that the black is BB i dont think you can beat it in a stock like turbo.

But with Davids new testing is showing what the Hta 3076 can do this is a very viable option aswell.

Then you also have the new borgwarner turbo's that are shipping and more results should be comming in b4 xmas.

Im glad i am leaving my turbo as the last part of my built and have lots of time to wait.

What type of engine setup your running?

I only run Kelford 272 cams with beehive and the other is ecuflash, full 3 exhaust, i/c pipes, and fuel pump... I wanna make sure it stays daily driver bc now that I'm looking for a good build I'm in between a lot of parts. pistons wiseco hd to the 8.5.1 or 9.0.1. .. not planning on pushing more than 35psi ....Eagle rods.. manley bearings, any suggestions... the car till this days stock turbo hit 369whp 26psi on mustang dyno before cams. haven't gone to tune yet.

I had a black for a while and sold it and it was kinda in the way it always wanted to overspool...
surging as you call it... t/3-t/4 for daily driver I've heard is not that good.. haven't found no video of the ef4 on a evo...

The EF3 and EF4 do include an oil feedline kit from the housing, yes.

My question is why do you want to go with a larger turbo with low boost? Your gonna be a little laggy being larger wheels and the car wont be as fun if your only running say stock boost levels? Being I have the EF4 I would say none of them if its restricted to low boost.

I doubt I will get into the bigger turbos until I build the engine. When I do, I will probably go with EF4 as I can use my stock turbo as a core. The extra reliability of the BB is offset by the additional cost. You can probably get few rebuilds in before the cost is made up.

As for the difference in spool and flow? Well, we just need a bit more testing to see what people are coming up with to see a relative performance level.

I'm really liking the results from MAP's EF-series turbos, I'm very happy with my EF2.

Well i was probably thinking on running 25psi to 32psi not more than that.... Down here in PR haven't ran into somebody on a Ef4 all I've seen are FP Blacks.. non ball bearing. I just want to keep a fun daily driver with mean horsepower under the hood... Goals are 500-600whp ... My motor is around 100,000 miles on it. Haven't ever done nothing to it only kelford cams and beehive springs and retainers...

Any others suggestions... feel free to comment...
Thanks for the imput...

25 to 32 lbs of boost really isn't low hahah. I mean I guess if you consider what the turbo can handle maybe. Yes my short block is completely untouched and I just turned 60k miles

How much boost your running on that EF4????

544whp its a pretty good number... and what bushur stages you have?? i kinda didn't understand it..

I just hit the 100,000 miles on mine and its first ecuflash and tune and raise of boost was around 95,000k miles. So my car hasn't been abused on boost that much. most I've pulled is 28psi dropping to 24. Ive heard my transmission 6speed doesn't last much over 400whp..
i was planning on taking it to sheppard and reenforcing the full 6 speed.. don't want to lose the drivability of the 6speed gearbox
