Innovative Tuned, BUFFALO NY
I have just basic bolt ons exhaust 255 pump mbc. Evo 9 motor and turbo in my 04. It went from 220h to 305 on their mustang dyno. 26lbs max. Very happy with my experience there. Great guys, Mike is very helpful and very knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone here in WNY. I took it there for a tune and a feeler. I'm having the car cammed and will be running an FP setup this spring, wont think twice about taking it there for all of my needs.
I do have one question for you guys, I have been going back and fourth about running E85. It is readily available 5 minutes from my house. I know its hard to bench mark real dyno numbers but does anyone have an idea what kinda power I'd get by switching to E85? Thanks
youll have to upgrade your fuel system, just spend the money now and get a BR double pumper and a set of injectors. injector size depends on what you want to do with the car in the long run.
good luck with the car, youll probably see my around town in the spring

Yea I'm having Cosworth M2's and headstuds installed with springs and a double pump next month and sometime in march I will be running an FP setup on E85 so I'll need to upgrade pretty much every part of my fuel system. My injectors on a 255 maxed at 27lbs so its good for now. Daily driver I'm only pushing between 21-24lbs usually
thanks for the review man.. i'm in buffalo too and i am looking for some good advice on my hp goals i have and a place to get tuned. didn't really know much about this place, I mainly hear about stm
You sent me a PM asking about Innovative. I replied by citing a tune that I witnessed personally. You didn't really understand the impact of what I said, because by your own admission, you're not fully clued into the (tuning) constraints at work. I briefly discussed load-based boost, referred you to Evoscan's site, referred you to the tuning stickies, explained what you need to log and what logging means to begin with, and now I see this; I don't even know why I took the time to respond to your questions.

I wanted to stay away from tuning myself, that's why I take it to a professional shop. But, Evoscan is sweet. My laptop is a pos so I'm gonna wait till I get a good nice convenient device I can attach to my dash between my air vents and cluster. So probably a week or two before I actually use evoscan

"Hi Patrick. Innovative has a good rep with Subarus. Their Evo tunes, though, are not the best. I saw one tune, personally, and its parameters were very optimistic. This isn't to say that Innovative is a bad shop or that Mike is bad tuner. It's just that me may not be exposed to as much information regarding this platform."
I specifically said that Mike is not a bad tuner, regardless of the words you're trying to put in my mouth. As for the rest, I just don't care. Really. I originally commented, because you're a neighbor and I was trying to help. I have no intention of getting sucked into some imaginary, inane shop war bullsh/t. It's your car; do what you want.

Patrick the numbers look great. I was in the shop a few days after your car was in talking to mike about it. I too have heard some things about mike not being the guy to go to in western new york with evos. But I have great trust in mike, he always took care of my subaru and me. His guys and him are always more than amazing to me. He has done great work on my subaru and now has done a great tune on my evo. I'm more than happy with his work.
Maybe if more people have seen the cars he's had come in there, then they would see haha. Like that white supra they built, things a monster.
But anyways, about e85, I was thinking about switching to it also. Where around Buffalo are you from. My closest e85 station is about 5 minutes and its the Wilson Farms on Niagara Falls Boulevard. I think a nice e85 tune with some cams and some other mods would be a pretty nice power bump.
Also, did you just buy this car? I think I remember seeing it on craigslist recentley when I was looking for mine.

if your cars are DD's and you run E85 pick up a tester and make sure you test it. they switch the fuel around here between E70 and E85 during the winter months. if you get tuned on E70 and you get a tank of E85 your car will go lean and be bad news for your motor.. just keep an eye on the fuel.

As these are my own words, I don't think it's out of line to post the content of a PM. This is what I said to you:

Yes that's where I will be getting my E85. I live 5 minutes from that Wilson Farms. And that was my evo on Craigslist. I was going to sell it and buy a new Evo X but I scrapped that idea and decided to invest in this one. Yes I am happy with the tune. I have a lot of friends that have been going to Innovative for years with Honda's Subaru's Eclipse's Supra's Cobalt SS'es I don't see how they could do great work with every car but the evo. I had a good experience there. What do you have done to your car and what numbers did you get?
Right now alls I got is a TurboXS intake, Greddy Catback with an unknown catless downpipe, mbc, Walboro fuel pump and tune. It made 269/254 on Mikes dyno.
Come spring I'll be making the switch to e85 with a set of cams and headstuds. Gotta start somewhere to build mike some numbers on evos haha

You in NT? I'm in Tonawanda. Yeah I think it has to do with some personal issues I remember hearing years ago with two big name people in the area, but I'm not going to get into that.
