Magnaflow fit in test pipe location

hi all,

need to quite things down.
Magnaflows 5" seems like it's the correct length, that has 3" opening

Anyone know if the diameter is going to be a problem or do I need to move it back?

Why cant yo use a catalytic in that spot, like what is supposed to be there. A cat will quiet things down substantially.

I had two flanges welded onto a magnaflow round muffler similar to yours on my 06 MR. I used this instead of a testpipe or HFC. The five inch diameter will be fine and it will help quiet things down. A muffler shop did the installation and they did have to shorten the outlets to make it fit.

I thought it be cheaper with the Magnaflow.
Seems like with the flanges and muffler work I'm close to a HFC.

MAP has a Berk HFC that's claims to flow 87% of test pipe. That's close enough for me.
Soot and noise from test pipe is annoying.

Might give the HFC a shot

i run a 6" magnaflow can where the cat is supposed to go. Fits perfectly with the heat shield still on. Paid like 15-20 bucks to have a shop weld on 2 3" flanges on both sides. Quieted the car down a whole lot compared to a test pipe. IDK how the HFC will quiet down in comparison

i don't remember what i got, but after adding the flanges on each side it was a perfect fit lengthwise to the stock cat

If you ever plan to run more than 25psi on the stock turbo (or equivalent airflow on anything else) forget the HFC, you'll collapse it in 20k, over its 3 owners I don't think mine even had that many on it before I had to gut it.

I know the Bullet muffler used in the Buschur setup fits where the cat does, anything up to whatever that measures in at should be fine.

cool so it sounds like the 14 inch case has a 20 inch overall length and that might be a direct fit.

i wonder if 5 vs 6 inch barrel makes a major difference?
