I wish you were into subies more Aaron, our stock ecu is rather untouched in comparison to the great community work u boys have done, kudos!

P&L motorsports and jr tune went 8.7@15x iirc. Come to the dark side...I'll even call u John B to keep it mysterious lol.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, the way you wrote it I thought you were saying that subarus never used twinscroll in general and I never saw a market clarification.

i started a topic on Nasioc about using a OEM evo IX turbo on a subaru, and one company makes a manifold/header upipe combination to do just that. If somone is interested I will dig it up.

Aaron, I'm very excited to hear that. Nasioc is my home forum, I would love to bounce some ideas about what's been missing from the subie world. I like your attitude and i think the guys on there really will as well, look forward to seeing you in proven power bragging and built motor discussion!!! My sn on there is soon2bblackongold

dragonslayer i think.

The subaru's turbo choices to to REALLY lack compared to what we can do.

Anyway, back on topic... My LR2.4 should be ready for pick up literally any day now and I can't wait to see how much I love it

2 cars almost perfectly identical other than Akash owns a 2.0L and Tony has a SR2.4. Same turbos, manifolds, intake manifolds, tuner, etc. Both cars were compared in 3rd and then Tony's was also dyno'd in 4th gear (green run).

2.0L 3586- Black 3rd gear
2.4L 3586- Red 3rd gear
2.4L 3586- Green 4th gear

Thanks for the info Aaron. The difference is amazing! I may need to go to a 2.3 or 2.4 sooner than I had planned.

what's your thoughts on reliability of a 2.0 LR vs a 2.3 or 2.4LR?

Let me throw another question on top of my first one, how do you think your custom cams would do with the HTA86? Do you think you would see the same increase in spool and torque the the FP black owners see compared to other cams?

They were developed for the 3586 and have been the only cam I have had in my LR2.4. As a result I think they DO VERY WELL.

I dont think any Mitsu motor is reliable with what we do to them. There are of course different levels of how long the engines last, I think the bigger ones will last longer since they make better power per pound. I think I was pretty clear on what motor I like though, the LR2.4 by a long shot. The 2.0L doesnt have the torque or response, the 2.3 has more vibration, the LR2.4 cures all the issues with larger turbo Evos.

John how many of those AMS oil pans have you used? Was looking at those recently you like them? I am using the Power Enterprises head gasket, which one are you guys typically using for your builds? Great numbers, I follow your builds often.

We use them as often as possible. Anything that gets road raced regardless of power or any drag car that makes over 600whp. I used the PE gasket without issue, but we had 2 fail (JohhnyTSI and BlackCarbonEvo) and then switched to a custom Cometic we have made for the 2.4s we do.

Mine survived all the abuse I put at it for the last 15,000 miles. Unfortunately we'll never know how much further it could have gone because I pulled the head off and am doing a new motor for this year. That build thread will come up later

My oil pan has seen better days so the AMS might be the next step down the road. As far as the cometic is that something I can purchase from you guys?

Now here's my question I'm kinda upset that I seen this thread actually because now it has me rethinking my future setup currently I have minor bolt one (see sig) and was wanting more power so I was looking at the map ef2 and supporting mods and hoping for the 400+ range with good response not really caring about peak power wanting more grunt....Sooo my drawn out question is would you prefer a Turbo and supporting mods or just skipping to a 2.4 to make the power?

A bigger motor wont make more power with the same turbo but it will make more power per psi until the turbo is tapped out, It will also have a better powerband. Head flow and turbo flow are generally the limiting factors on power.
