Any one ever use the cheaper oil pumps for $91 and water pumps $40 from ebay. If so how good are they?

Oil pump = NO
Water pump... I have used pumps from Napa (probably the same aftermarket manufacture) with no issues..

Seriously. Is your motor worth saving a few bux. I could see if both parts were 1000 each but how much are you really saving now to risk a blown motor later.

Buy OEM.....esp. on the Oil Pump. At least with the water pump the worst that can happen is it leaks or stops working.....just keep watching your temp gauge so if and when it does stop working you can turn the car off before it overheats.

Why would you put anything other then oem in your car? Specially with important things such as oil and water pumps?

Are you serious...you are going to try and save like 150$ by skimping on a component that can grenade your motor....LOL

Why on earth would you EVER risk a 2-5k$ motor for 150$ to buy a unproven probably poorly manufactured product....

Hope your flamesuit is on =/

I think there should be a law that states unless you have owned a dsm you can't own an evo being everyone knows what happens to the dsm when you skimp on some stupid ****. They go boom. Have that experience with a less expensive car, then you have the right to buy an evo. Thats how a lot of problems would be solved with questions such as this one.

Ebay & oil pump should never be used in the same sentence

OEM and nothing else for the oil pump

I have used Gates water pumps for ages with positive results.

Aftermarket water pump is fine if you go ahead and drill/plug the freeze plug. There is a thread on here where a guy from MP-Fab showing how to do it.
Oil pump you best go with OEM.

This thread is proof that Evos are now DSMs.

To save money I just made my own oil pump by using a straw taped to an old fuel pump from my Mom's van.
