Shep trans.....

I had my transmission rebuilt by shep, I sent It in about 2 weeks ago and got it back the other day. I just bought the car recently knowing it needed some tlc. Mainly sent it in because it had a grind between 4th and 5th. He called me and notified me that 2nd, 4th, and 5th gearsets were bad, I guess splines or what not. I was already essentially replacing 1st with evo 9 gearset and since 5th was bad I had it replaced with evo 9 set as well. I am sure that shep was being honest as I have never heard a bad complaint about them. Just makes me wonder because it was shifting good through those gears. Hopefully it will shift like butter now. Still waitin on the clutch before I can put it in...

Shep won't throw a transmission back together with f'd up parts. How much more pissed would you be if he left those alone and your freshly built trans started grinding 1k miles later....There is a reason he is regarded as one of (if not the) top shop for Evo transmissions...

Ya I mean I'm sure it's gonna be right thats why I sent it there. I don't mind paying for quaility, just wish I could see the worn parts myself. I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

I felt this way about not seeing the internals of my Transfer case. Once I received it back I had full confidence that it was going to last.

It looked completely brand new.

Will send the trans back out to them once I can afford to.

Ya I mean this is what I've heard from everyone, actually don't think I've read or heard one bad thing about their stuff. Pretty much why I sent it there, I just know how some shops can be dishonest and will take advantage of the fact that you are at their discretion of what's actually wrong or bad. Im the type of person that just really doesn't trust anyone, until I've done business for awhile. That's all, I'm not trying to start drama or anything, just sharing the report they gave me and what my tranny was doing. I will report back in as soon as I get some miles on it and let ya guys know how it feels.

Just make sure your shifter cables are adjusted correctly before you do anything after the tranny is in. I know a lot of people don't realize it when they do there tranny and wonder why there brand new trans grinds.

I had my trans rebuilt by Shep two years ago. My 5th gear would grind unless I shifted very slow. When they called me back after tearing it down I was told 5th was gone and needed to be replaced. I had no doubt in my mind this was true cause it had been grinding for quite some time. I had the unltimate ratio upgrade done (EVO 8 3rd and 4th gear). I can't say enough how much I love this transmission. Rest assured, your Shep trans will perform like you want it to.

You won't be disappointed at all, I'm sure if there was even a little wear and tear on the gears they called them trash. Like everyone else said, wouldn't you be pissed if you got it back and grinds galore within the next 1-10k miles? Over at Tobz shop here in CO he had a few brand new shep trans laying around and I can say I was overly impressed at even how they looked from the outside and the time taken to make the tranny look so good.

Well this was debatable when I first pulled it apart, It had an act heavy duty pressure plate with a sprung street disc. The pressure plate was cracked and I put a thread on here with a picture of it and one of the act reps saw it and pm'd me so long story short, they replaced it and upgraded me to an xtreme pressure plate for free and are relining my disk. Said they sent it like thursday or friday I beleive (coming from California to Indiana). So to answer your question I am putting an ACT street disc with xtreme plate. I wasn't orginally going to go back with an ACT, but since they treated me right and are taking care of it and it's not hardly costing me anything, im gonna go back with it.
