6262 or 6266 CEA wheel upgrade

well I was going to send my old style wheel 6262 in for the new CEA wheel and was wondering if i should stick to the 62 wheel up just up it to the 66 wheel?

Is the power difference between the 62 and 66 worth the loss in spool time or since its already a laggy turbo to just go for the bigger wheel or does the new 66 wheel have a similar spool as the old 62 wheel. Thanks for any help guys

I would suggest the 6266. It is much more efficient. I may be biased tho, running a 6266 and all ;-)

Oh and I'm seeing 550lb/ft of torque by 5k rpms on a 2.3 as a point of reference (on a conservative e98 tune)

What's your max boost and by what rpm?

It'll help decide on a turbo later on

I thought the 66 wheel was advertised to spool the same as the 62 wheel but give more power.

Yes, it seems to do just that. BUT I never ran a 6262 so I can't confirm that through personal experience.

I have read that using a larger backside (66mm) with a smaller compressor side (62mm) creates unnecessary lag that doesn't really justify the power gain. 6262's have been proven to be monsterous. Just get the CEA upgrade and call it a day. This way you can see the actual power gain from other 6262's from the upgrade.

Thats a major factor.

I hear all sorts of funny things advertised these days, most are a bit of a stretch.

Without a large displacement or a serious flowing head/cam setup its usually not necessary to use the extra large turbine wheel. I predict I will recommend the 62mm wheel as the best fit, simply because the 66mm will likely be unnecessary.

I'm running a 65 wheel and planed to upgrade to the 66. I'll be comparing spool and power after the upgrade.

That's a dyno chart I would like to checkout. I'm wrapping up my winter build with a 2.3 IX 6266 with all the supporting mods to make the Turbo perform work.
Post it up!

I'm probably going to hold off on doing anything other then swapping out the transfer case now. I had some stuff come up and the money I had to play with is going to have to go to some real life stuff.
