Required mods for 400whp IX MR on e85?

Thanks up front for the insight.

I have an 06 IX MR with ~35k miles. Looking at what mods are required to bring it up to 400whp. What do you guys see these being - and if you have a recommendation on a specific brand, would gladly welcome your input.

What are you going to use the car for? Drag, autox, track?

Turboback exhaust, filter, upgraded diverter valve, tb seals, injectors, fuel pump, and something to control boost. I like a 3 port bcs and omni 4 bar for ecu controlled boost. You will need a clutch if you don't have one.

Parts that would squeeze out some more power:

Intercooler and piping
02 Housing
Ported exhaust manifold
Ported Hotside

I have all of that and made 427awhp/391awtq

This ^^ is a pretty good list.

As far as brands go:

TBE- Anything that's 3" all the way back will be fine
Diverter Valve- Synapse is best if you stay with stock IC piping. Otherwise Tial is good but you'll have to weld on a flange for it. IMO this a must because the stock DV will leak past 25 psi and you'll prolly need close to 30 psi on a stock turbo for 400whp.
Injectors- FICs are pretty popular for E85. 1050cc or bigger
Fuel Pump- Walbro 255 should suffice but there's lots of debate on this. Research it
Intake and filter- Lots of debate on this as well. Research it.
Boost Controller- Grimmspeed 3 port or a Hallman MBC- Once again everyone has an opinnion
Clutch- Personally I have an ACT XTSS and I love it, but there are many others that are just as good if not better.
Intercooler- ETS, AMS, Buschur, etc- Stick to the name brands and stay away from E-bay on these. At 400whp and around 30psi you'll be pushing the limits of the stock IC so I'd highly reccomend this.
Ported Manifold- MAP, PPI, Buschur are all good from what I've heard.

I'd stay away from a Tial diverter on a stock turbo. On the highway part throttle flutter is murder. I run a synapse and it is hands down a better valve. You definitely have a lot of reading to do on your part selection and reviews are going to vary from person to person. For instance I absolutely hate ACT clutches as both of my evo's have suffered from lock out issues. In my opinion spending more on your clutch has a higher value than cutting that cost with a budget clutch just to afford more engine mods.

Yeah I've never used a Tial DV but people have recommended them to me before so that's what I was going off of. Personally, I also have the Synapse and it's hands down the best DV I've used. I've tried several stock metal DVs and a Forge and the drivability on the Synapse is far superior to either of those. Not to mention the fact that it holds any amount of boost you can throw at it.

As far as the clutch goes, there are a number of threads out there that go both ways on the ACTs. Most of the ones where people were complaining about lockout issues were from a few years ago so I wonder if they've changed something since then. I've talked with several guys that are running an ACT with no issues at all. I've had mine for about a year and half now and I love it. It's been great for daily driving and I've put at aleast 20-30 trips down the 1/4 on it and haven't had a single issue with lockout even when I was hot lapping it.

So like Dangle said, do some research and maybe talk to some tuners in your area to see what they reccomend.

OK. Let me take a stab at this. Since you already have the stock IX turbo, I am going to assume that you do not have any other modifications for the car (100% stock). I would say this would be the easiest (and cheapest route if you are on a budget). Also assuming that 400whp is your ultimate goal and not +1whp more.

1. Walbro 255lph fuel pump
2. 880-1000cc injectors
3. 3-port boost controller for ECU-controlled boost
4. EBay O2 housing
5. Any vendors lower intercooler pipe
6. crushed stock IX BOV
7. Any vendors turbo back exhaust (with test pipe)
8. 272-duration camshafts
9. tune

Mods are in sig. I am just shy of 400 on pump. I did not like the synapses valve. The highway flutter made mine undrivable. I am going with the new tial q have heard great things. I daily drive my car and have a long commute. I am really happy with my set up

Guess when I post from my phone they dont show up.

Similar to what I recommended. It is good to see that I am in line with what you have used and proven as a sure way to achieve such a goal.

Whoops forgot to mention IT HAS TO HAVE an intercooler upgrade. The stocker stops flowing between 385-390whp on a Dynojet.
