I think GUS mod is referring to a crushed stock diverted valve and the MBC is a manual boost controller

MBC means Manual Boost Controller like a Hallman. I personally have the Hallman MBC and I love it. Improved spool a tad and very accurate.

My car had the Tomei DV on it already when I bought it with no other mods so I don't know the "gus" mod to the factory IX diverter valve(DV).

I'm waiting on my Buschur street FMIC an piping to come in at the moment. After install I'm taking my car to AWDMotorsports for timing belt job, cam install, and tune looks like I shouldn't have a problem hitting 400whp mark since I'm doing a pump gas and race gas tune. I know everybody loves E85 but I don't. Never have been a fan of it. Plus I like my moderate gas mileage.

My synapse feels better than my stock ix valve did so if the OP isn't on a budget I would go with that. Also ecu controlled boost is superior to a mbc and with a map switch for a 93 octane and e85 tune he wouldn't have to adjust a mbc for each map. A GM 3 port is cheaper than a hallman and more accurate. Also say goodbye to gear based boost control if you get that hallman. The Grimspeed piece is nice though for a good plug and play unit.

I had never looked into ECU controlled boost but I read up on tha Grimmspeed unit and it seems like a good way to go if your using two maps. Good advice man!

You are looking at it all wrong. For one you won't hit 400 on 93octane no matter how high of a reading mikes dyno is. Second your race gas map will never be the same because you will always have a certain amount of 93 still in the tank. This holds true for E85 also. Every time I swap from 93 to E85 I had to cycle at least half a tank before I got my power back. Once I filled it back up the car was good to go. This is much cheaper to do on E85 than race gas. Your gas mileage will suffer obviously but the power you gain for the price is well worth the hassle of driving fifteen minutes out of my way for e85. Unleaded race gas will never outperform E85 and leaded will ruin sensors.

Gus mod is not crushing the BOV. That is "crushing the BOV" where you vice down the top. Gus mod is different-

1. Walbro 255lph fuel pump
2. 880-1000cc injectors
3. 3-port boost controller for ECU-controlled boost
4. EBay O2 housing
5. Any vendors lower intercooler pipe
6. crushed stock IX BOV
7. Any vendors turbo back exhaust (with test pipe)
8. 272-duration camshafts
9. tune
What? I have all those mods and im making 352awhp!

I believe he was telling the OP what mods he will need assuming e85 was his fuel of choice. I agree with all besides cams. For $1k people spend on cams I would just send my turbo to fp for a green and make a lot more power for the money.

On E85 you can make 380whp with those mods. I can't stress throttle body seals enough and a boost leak test prior to your tune as every car I have worked on has leaked bad. I gained 17whp off of a $20 throttle body seal. What other mod do you know that makes that much power per dollar besides taking off your exhaust?
