EVO MR tranny limits

What exactly is it that causes the MR 6 speed transmission to be so weak?

Are the limits 400whp or 400wtq? Is it hard shifting that kills it? I've just heard so much about the MR tranny being "weak" but not much proof to back it up...

is anyone out there on stock MR tranny with above 500whp? Or over 400wtq?

I'm at like 370. Holding up just fine. I've only owned the car 3,000 miles of the 65k. Car has always been maintained well. Even had new tranny fluid in it when I got it =D
No grinding or shifting problems. I've done two 4k RPM launches so far. Very smooth.

You really should search because this has been discussed to death.

The thinking goes that 1-2-3 are actually stronger in the 6-speed because they are thicker. 4-5-6 are much thinner than 4-5 in the 5-speed and are prone to failing when exposed to high heat for prolonged periods (like on a road course). The 6-speed case holds less fluid than the 5-speed case because it has to fit an extra gear inside, so that compounds the heat problem.

Of course, I cracked my 6-speed housing clean in two on a hard launch. So take that for what it's worth.

when i first got my car, i drove the **** out of it ... launching and shifting like crazy .. was a the track doing 1/4 passes all the ... the tranny was and still is fine .. my 4th gear synchro is goin out but that is from missing gears and messing **** up ... but it still runs like a champ and holds up like none other... its like anything man treat it right, be smooth, maintain it... its mechanical eventually itll wear out and break .. but ive seen plenty of monster power MRs doin it big and holding up... finesse goes a long way ... being smooth will eliminate alot of the shock that tends to break everything

Thats false info. Ive seen quite a few fail from power, they can only take so much, then something has to give
