I changed the fluids on the drivetrain. i went with amsoil. Ever since there is like a hum/whine coming from the rear diff. Is it the oil or something else? thank you!

Amsoil will make your drivetrain noisy. I ran amsoil in my diffs for around 15k miles now and they hum. About two years ago the humming started but my fluid needed to be changed and thought a flush would do the trick but after I filled it up with amsoil it was still apparent. I couldn't tell it was my rear diff 100% so I left my car with it even after tow more fluid changes. After I modded my rear diff and the LSD was making a lot of noise I ended up throwing in some friction modifier low and behold my lsd chatter went away and so did the whine. I wouldn't worry about it as mine never failed but if you don't enjoy the noise then do what I did or swap fluids.

make sure you have enough fluid in there!! sometimes when filling it up you get a air bubble in there and it pushes out the fluid making you think its full when it really is not... happened to me but i caught it rite away

You should get your ears checked out as it doesn't have friction modifiers in it to quiet anything down. Out of stock diaqueen, redline, and amsoil hands down the loudest was amsoil. That doesn't mean it is the worst.

My rear diff made a whine, but it got louder really fast (within 10 miles) and then sheered a quarter of the teeth off the pinion gear That is after 100k miles of abuse though. If you are driving around and it isn't getting worse, then I wouldn't worry about it. If you are really paranoid you can always ship it off to Shep or some other driveline person and have them check/replace the bearings.

Lol this happened to me.. Well sort of I forgot to fill t case with oil after a build, after driving 15 miles not knowing it was completely dry it basically ate it's alive and came to a dead stop, pinion gears welded together :/ verycostly mistake haha shouldn't have ignored that whine..so my advice is drain the oil and refill it, don't take chances.
