well the problem is im not sure if its worth risking my hard earned only to get some lame excuse if somehting breaks. this sucks because some of their stuff looks like something i would want, but not at the possibility of 2500 dollars flushed down the toilet and nothing to show for it.

I'm not an engineer but I'm not sure I understand why someone thinks they need a catch can unless they use crap oil.... or go long periods of time between changes...

Correct me if I'm wrong but a can collects fluids that can degrade oil and help prevent oil vapor from causing carbon buildup. Don't run a junk oil that creates vapor... and good oils don't if at all minor amounts. Change oil often or regularly to remove these harmful fluids.

If you have an Evo and race it then I understand the need and so forgive me. If your Evo is a daily driver and you occasionally ROMP it... then why?

If someone says in a reply to this it also helps with high crank case pressures... then you have a problem with your car. High pressures are a sign of something wrong. Cause its not normal.

I'm also running an FP turbo and have been for over 40K miles with no issues at all.

5 pages of FP bashing and nobody has asked for any kind of evidence that they actually suggested something so asinine?

Exactly, people need to get off the forum and get with the manufacturer. Robert provided me with every oz of proof as to my failure. You need to consult with him he's a very fair individual.

Sometimes we're not patient enough I help ourselves. I'm a good example !

Z32cctx you need to call Fp asap

Pretty much had the car idling and next thing I know I hear a nasty clinking sound coming from the turbo. Removed the intake to find the blade is hitting the side of the housing.

I am running a oil that is on the list they gave me. I am also using the FP Black oil feed line and pulling the oil from the oil filter housing.
Your post history indicates that you bought a used Black on this forum in Jan 2012, sold your misrepresented HKS kit in Feb 2012 (claimed it was in good shape, ordered by the admin to refund the buyer) and haven't really talked about turbos since then. If you really blew up a brand new Black, get in touch with FP and they'll help you out. That's not what it looks like, though.

Yea seems like theres more to the story here...

people who search for this topic for years to come remember this:

If you have a problem with your brand new TV the first thing you do is not call all of your friends and strangers to come give insight. No.. the first thing you do is call tech support. If you have a problem call. I made this mistake in the past.

He did. This was FP's response.

Hello Mr z32cctx,

I have come to learn from a couple thousand people on the internet that you have one of our brand new FP Black BB turbos for the EVO9 and are having some problems with it. I looked for Mr z32cctx in the white pages but I was unable to locate you.

I was very concerned to learn of your trouble as it is very very unusual to have a problem with our flagship turbocharger, particularly since the implementation of our Patented new Ceramic Ball Bearing design that we released in the summer of 2011. So I have been doing some research to try to locate you so that I can help you with your troubles. First I looked thru all the email folders on our server, the tech support email, the sales email, the service email, all the personal email boxes. I was unable to locate a message from anyone with a broken turbocharger during the 6 days we were closed for Christmas and New Years or the week prior. I was also unable to locate a box with a broken FP Black for EVO9 turbocharger in it that arrived from any customer. So I made everyone with a phone extension here in the building re-search their voice mail boxes to see if anyone had overlooked a message, or if there had been any one particular phone number that had called repeatedly and hung up without leaving a message while we were closed those 6 days. I came up with nothing again unfortunately.

So I started to ask a few people around on my facebook if anyone had heard of z32cctx, and I was able to get this email address in that manner. I immeadiately searched our system for any ref to this email addy, and came up with a customer in Corpus Christie who had purchased an air intake pipe in May of 2012. So at that point I felt like I was getting somewhere. Shortly afterwards some people linked me to a for sale thread on a forum indicating that the username z32cctx had purchased a used FPBlack turbo in Feb of 2012, almost one year ago, one of those people knew you informally and gave me this email address, so luckily I was able to contact you to see if there is something I can do to help you with your turbocharger afterall.

But the situation is not what I thought at first. Your post on the forum led me to believe that you had just installed your new FPBlack model turbocharger and it broke after 30 minutes of tuning while it was simply in the driveway idling. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out which of our customers you might have been, only to discover that you were not in my system and that I never sold you anything but a intake pipe. This doesnt mean that I don't care what happens to you and your project, but it does mean that I wouldnt have any idea that you have an FPBlack turbo.

The post you made led a lot of people to believe that you got a brand new FP Black model EVO9 BB for Christmas, installed it, and 30 min later had a $2500 lump of broken nothing to show for it and were now faced with us being closed for "weeks" (6 days actually) on vacation while you suffer thru life without an evo to drive. So much so that a lot of people joined in with you to flame us and call us names and point out that they too had a friend that knew a guy with a broken FP turbo. One user on that thread actually indicated that your comment about your "30 min failure" helped him from making the same mistake of buying an FP turbo.

I know it really sucks when thigs go wrong with a car project, I am not new to this myself, have lots of grey hair. I have blown up and broken more parts than you ever will and I am not finished yet! I know first hand how low you feel when the parts give out. I know how gutted you feel when the car goes "boom". I blow up about $50k in test parts a year, some years lots more. I know it really really sucks when a project fails. But Sir, please don't go to the internet and make people think that your brand new turbo lasted for 30 min and broke idling in the driveway when the turbo is second hand, years old and has who knows what sort of hours, temperature and abuse on it.

Finally, if you would like some help getting your project back together and on the road, give us a call or send that old turbo in and we will see what we can do about getting you back on the road and kicking ***! I won't treat you like a red head step child just because you **** raped me on the internet, I will still help you - why? Becasue I am badass is why.

BOOSTON!

Looks like Robert at Forced Performance is making the effort to help me out. I am still blown away with the way this turbo performs. How quick it spools and the power I made. Once again I was pretty depressed when the turbo failed on idle. But I am looking forward to getting it repaired

From what I have been told built 4G63's are prone to excessive crank case pressure. This is exactly why I am running the catch can setup that I have.
