ACD pump dead. What should I do?
ok, here is the ACD/AYC pump repair video... it is probably too long but I wanted to go in detail... The tools and kits are available, we have managed to produce the non standard parts that are not available from mitsubishi... like the pump plate and the special oil seal between the pump and the electric motor.

Way cool! Finally an alternative to 'just buy another pump'. Thank you for putting in the effort making that video.
Now for the million dollar question: Where do I get the kit and how much does it cost?

just to update this info a bit.... we seem to have a US distributor and service point now...
so I will refer you to him for purchase and servicing..
As for the prices, that is to be decided still... lots of factors in that one.. so please disregard that info..

Not to sound ungrateful that there's finally an ACD pump rebuild kit on the market, but over 200$ USD sounds a bit expensive to me for a couple of bolts, o-rings, a bearing and a little stainless steel plate...
You are correct- it is expensive. The reason for the cost is the parts are custom made- ie, the bearing, a few of the o-rings, the plate, and the seal. You cannot buy these parts- they must be made to strict tolerances. These parts are also better than the ones that came from the factory.
First of all, out of the respect to mitsubishi community I put out the how to video, not to make any money out of it, but to help people... so please do not consider it an advert, but knowledge sharing.. If I was a vendor, it might have been more profitable not to share it... In fact others that do such business keep quiet about it, no disrespect to them..
I am a big fan of the ACD/AYC and I think it would be a shame for people to take it off their cars just because mitsi f##$%&d up with the position and sealing of the pump.. (and it's replacement and spare parts policy)
the rebuild kit, and tool kit, came about as a result of an idea, to provide an affordable way of rebuilding the pump... To be honest, I could have just sold the pump plates, but then people would have to source the o rings and other hardware... and you can easily spend hours just searching for the stuff...
Then it was pointed out to me that the shaft oil seal would be a good idea, and it is because you destroy it when pulling out the stuck bearing... but that seal is not available anywhere... even the original manufacturer will not sell it.. So, we made a custom one.. I paid for the tooling up front, did the same for the pump plate and some other O rings, and did spend considerable time designing it and testing it... Some parts are standard, some not so.. In the end, the kit provides some parts that you can not buy, and saves you some time on others that you would have to search for...
Then, it needs to be shipped around the world, etc.. And all that on a basis of an unknown amount of kits that might be sold.. So I think the price is a realistic one, and I could give you numerous examples of parts people buy for their cars that are in the same class of price and complexity yet there is never any question about it... (and I do welcome your question... it had to be asked)
After all, if you are a mechanically minded person, and are not scared of disassembling and cutting a 3000 USD part of your car, then this 200 something USD kit will help you fix that 3000 USD part that has broken down. And you do not need the toolkit, even though it will help.... Considering the time it takes to do it, and that the whole process is a bit tricky, sending the whole unit to ACD-tuning for service makes a lot of sense..
best regards
vlado
