Shep Trans 3rd-4th gear

Hey guys, I have my transmission shipped out to John right now and it is being built along with having the EVO 8 3-4 conversion for my EVO 9. I'm looking for people that have had this conversion done and see how they liked it? What major differences did you noticed with the 3rd and 4th gear change? Thanks.

Wonder if this would fix the fifth gear synchro wear problem, having a longer fourth closer to fifth

Acually, when I talked to Trevor @ ShepTrans He did mention that the longer 4th gear does cure the horrible 5th Gear grind so that is one thing I am looking for too -.-

I really like my "Ultimate Ratio" trans.

Speed@RPM for an Evo 8 and 9 are somewhere on the forum here.

On my IX, the ultimate ratio gave me 3mph in 3rd and 8mph in 4th on a 245/45/17 at 8250 rpm.

I some what have to agree with this, even with evo 8 4th 5th is still to long and the gap is still to big. This does reduce the wear of the synchro compared to not having the evo 8 4th but to ultimatly fix it i would have to say you would need the JDM Evo 5th which is .825 and is shorter than both evo8 and 9 5th

I have this trans upgrade for my IX and I absolutely love it. I HATED the stock 3rd and 4th. At 8000rpm in 4th I hit 130mph. Stock wheel and tire size.

Before I could hit MAYBE 115-120mph in 4th....
